Photo Contest Entry: Willys 1942

This photo was my recent entry in the Heritage Village Camera Club competition: "Willys 1942."
I like the curves and the reflection of the pretty sky on the black car. It's tricky to get a photo without the reflections of all the spectators at a car show, but at this angle, it worked. This was taken at a popular weekly car show in Granby, CT. I was looking for interesting windows during this photo shoot. I think exercises like this keep my quilting ideas fresh. Who knows? It can't hurt.
This photo received the highest possible score, a 9, but not the top prize.

Advice from Astronaut

As I recall, there was an astronaut in space who was a quilter, right?
I could be happy in space for a long time if I had my quilting supplies with me.
If you're new to this blog, take a look at the quilt patterns in my Etsy shop

Sunshine Quilt Pattern Ad

Quilters riding that bus will be imagining their next quilt after seeing this Sunshine quilt pattern ad. I think city landscapes could benefit from a few giant quilts, don't you?

Another installment of my Etsy shop ad campaign: Houndstooth quilt pattern. I like how the quilt image is reflected in the water. It looks like there is another quilt to the left of mine. But that's highly unlikely.

Paperweights Quilt Billboard

Another city billboard featuring my Paperweights quilt pattern. It seems to have caught the attention of the man in the bottom center of this photo. He must be a quilter.
.
I spared no expense on this Etsy shop ad campaign: $5 on Fiver. On Fiver you can get stuff like a professionally recorded telephone answering machine message. Or help with your website.

Yellow Brick Road Quilt Billboard

I like my Yellow Brick Road quilt pattern on this big wrap-around billboard.
Fancy ad campaign for an Etsy shop, no?
This is just one of several billboards I got on Fiver. Yup, all for $5.

New Pattern: Park Place!

Hot off the presses today! Park Place is a light and airy modern quilt that's fun to make. I see fluttering flags, curly ribbon and garden paths, depending on how I look at it.

This quilt measures 61" x 82" so it's great for XL Twin dorm beds. I like those black polka dots. :)

Please Pin, fb, blog, etc. for me. Thanks!

See the pattern.

Earthy Herringbone Quilt

"Earthy Herringbone" is from Kaffe Fassett's book: Heritage Quilts. It measures 55" x 68."
I like the combination of solid strips with the large leafy print. The little bit of narrow striped fabric adds some sparkle too. And the leafy fabric is perfect in the border too. No surprise there. Love those Rowan fabrics.

Pastiche Quilt Pattern!

Gather up all your quilting fabrics for this one. Everything is on the menu: gorgeous favorites, ugly fabrics, old and new, large and small prints, the whole shebang. You only need a little strip so you won’t even miss it. Stash quilts make a nice souvenir of our quilt-making journeys.

The Pastiche* pattern has lots of helpful hints for better results and more fun. No stress.

*Pastiche: (pa-steesh'), noun, a work of art that mixes styles, materials, etc. Hodgepodge.

See the Pastiche pattern. Please spread the word on Pinterest, blogs, fb, etc. Thanks!

Sea Glass Quilt Pattern!

"Sea Glass" is a fusible applique quilt that measures 36" x 54." I just finished the "Sea Glass" pattern yesterday. I did a Google search of "sea glass" to get ideas before making this quilt and I saw photos of an amazing beach in California that's loaded with this stuff. It's called Glass Beach near Ft. Bragg. Apparently the locals used the beach as a dump in the 1940's (I know!) and now it's all nicely tumbled. Visitors like to take bags of it home with them. Scroll down to see a photo of it.

The Optimist Quilt!

Quilters who haven't yet made a string quilt are in for a big treat! This is a classic string quilt with a modern look. Fast and easy, it will make an optimist out of anyone. See The Optimist pattern.

I took this photo last night at 7:30 with no flash! I love this time of year.

This quilt lends itself well to fussy-cutting. I especially love the polka dots and that little red tiger, and the brown twigs, and the chairs (bottom photo)...see what I mean?

RV Sewing

Imagine all the quilts you could make if you could sew on those long road trips?
Paulette is a retired teacher from Canada. She wrote about this on her blog Sweet P Quilting and Creations. This isn't her sewing machine, but I think she wants one!  :)

Square Web Quilt Pattern! Do You See the Fish?

Got scraps? This Spider Web variation quilt pattern eats them up!
The "webs" are square-ish and a little wonky.
This quilt is easier to make than it looks! Fun too.

This quilt measures 64" x 64". To make an X-Long Twin (64" x 81")
just add two more rows of blocks to the length.

Clear directions, lots of how-to photos. 15 Pages.
No paper-piecing. No foundations. No stress.
If you don't love it, let me know and I'll issue a full refund.

As usual, I've added some "I spy" fun. Nice fish, huh?
This is definitely a fun quilt to make.
Help me spread this around: Pin, Like on fb, blog, Tweet, etc. Thanks!!
