Selvage Quilt in American Quilter

This is my selvage quilt in the new issue of American Quilter magazine (page 14). You can download the directions here. It's quick and easy to make.

New Quilt Book by Linda Baxter Lasco

Are you familiar with the "New Quilts from an Old Favorite" contest held each year by The National Quilt Museum? They challenge quilters to use a traditional quilt block in an innovative way. The best 18 quilts are chosen for an exhibit, and a book by Linda Baxter Lasco. The block for 2010 is the Sunflower, and the book will be out soon, in time for the AQS show in Paducah April 21-24. I can't wait to see Linda's book. She does a fabulous job. Each quilter tells about making her quilt and there are some methods illustrated too.

Linda Baxter Lasco's Selvage Skirt

This pretty skirt was made by Linda Baxter Lasco of Paducah, KY. If her name sounds familiar, that's because she is a senior editor at AQS and has authored three of the "New Quilts from an Old Favorite" series: the Sawtooth, Burgoyne Surrounded and Rose of Sharon books. She also helped me with my AQS book "Quilts from the Selvage Edge."

So, back to the skirt. Linda was inspired by Paulette Carr's selvage skirt which was featured here last September. She made it for Faith, the daughter of Sylvia who is also part of the team at AQS. Didn't she do a great job? I love the bright colors and the fancy belt. She even changed her thread to match each of the buttons. Faith is one lucky girl. Nice job, Linda!
