Anya's Selvage Sewing Roll

What a delightful selvage creation by Anya of Pennsylvania. Now she can travel in style when she takes her sewing on the road. Nice job, Anya! Visit her blog at: http://www.hillscreekquilter.blogspot.com/ and www.randomactsofstitching.blogspot.com.

Selvage Quilt by Anya of Pennsylvania

Anya of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania just finished this selvage quilt. She used the quilt-as-you-go method, and she doesn't recommend it. "Too many issues" she says. I'll take her word for it.

Another interesting fact is that she used the selvages from 72 yards of fabric to make this quilt. I had no idea! (Her friends contributed selvages, of course.) Nice job, Anya.

You can read more about this project on her blog: http://www.hillscreekquilter.blogspot.com/

A Quilter's Backyard, Obviously

This is Anya's backyard in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Don't you love the hand-dyed fabric lawn decoration? She and her quilting buddies have been enjoying a lot of hand-dyeing lately. They have 4.5 wooded acres. I love those white pines, green all year.

Selvage Birthday Card Among Janiacs

Anya of Wellsboro, PA just made this postcard for Rita, a quilting friend who's having a birthday soon. They're both "Janiacs" (Dear Jane quilt aficianados) so the fabrics are very appropriate.

Anya has taken the first step toward making a Dear Jane Selvage Quilt: thinking about it, and saying what a dumb idea it is! We've seen this kind of thing before. That's how I started my selvage lamp.

If you want to encourage Anya in this endeavor, or see what else she's up to, visit her blog at: http://hillscreekquilter.blogspot.com/.

Tomorrow: More Selvage Blog reader's neighborhoods!

.....Today is a good day to start a new quilt!.....

"With a Little Help From Her Friends"

Anya of Wellsboro, PA made this amazing selvage wall quilt. It now hangs on the door of her sewing studio. She chose the title in honor of her quilting friends who contributed their selvages for her project. She's afraid that they will find out that there is now a market for selvages and decide to sell them on eBay rather than give them to her! Gee, that gives me an idea!

Visit her blog at: http://www.hillscreekquilter.blogspot.com/. Anya's childhood photo is precious. Also, see her method of using the machine buttonhole stitch for the binding: http://hillscreekquilter.blogspot.com/2009/02/quick-binding-stitch.html She used variegated thread in the post and it looks very nice. Thanks, Anya!
