Exhibit Your House Quilt in Pennsylvania!

Illustration: Above quilt block by Christine of Auntie's Quaint Quilts - Tasmania, Australia.
The Charm Girls Quilters want to exhibit your house quilt in an elegant Quilt Show to benefit the Pearl S. Buck International House in Perkasie, PA in April 2010. (We are 6 quilting buddies who have been together for 5 years. This will be our second show.)
.
Any way that you interpret the “House” theme is fair game! Are you thinking of a fixer-upper or a mansion? A hen house, fun house, gingerbread house, housework, or a fire house? Surprise us. There will be a Grand Prize chosen by the staff of the Pearl S. Buck House, and Viewer's Choice Awards.
.
Finished quilts must be no larger than 36” square, and no smaller than 20” square. The rest us up to you.
.
Please tell Helen Wolf (asap) if you will be contributing a quilt: charmgirls@comcast.net. Your quilt must arrive in PA by March 31, 2010. All quilts will be returned, or if you choose, donated to a silent auction to benefit the Pearl S. Buck International House. There is a submission fee of $10 for quilters in the US. If you live outside the US (or in Alaska or Hawaii) there is no fee since you will have extra shipping expenses. Helen has all the info.
.
Also email a photo for exhibit on the Selvage Blog. Have fun!
.
"Buenos noches!" to all our visitors from Spain today.

Another Project by Helen Wolf

My friend Helen Wolf (of Charm Girl Quilters and Wolf Gang Quilters in Doylestown, PA) made this charming little business card holder for me. The rust/brown striped fabric at the top edge is also the lining fabric.

We have guild cards in preparation for our upcoming quilt show on March 27, 28, and 29th at the Pearl S. Buck house at 620 Old Dublin Road in Perkasie, PA.

Barbara's Selvage Layout

During a recent meeting of the Charm Girls in Doylestown, PA at the home of Barbara Harrison, I spied this arrangement in her quilt studio (which is appropriately called "The Cave of Wonders"). She is working on a stunning quilt, and while the blocks are still on the design wall, these selvages are already lining up in anticipation of becoming a bag to go with the quilt. I love that green and black fabric!

Read Both Sides of this Stationery

My friend Helen Wolf, a quilter in Doylestown, PA (and member of Charm Girls and Wolf Gang), made this nice big note card. The selvages aren't sewn at all. She arranged them on an 8x10 piece of paper, then photocopied the arrangement on nice paper. Just fold the copy in half, and there you have it, great stationery. Both sides are fun to read (the selvages and the note inside). Need more stationery? Just hit that "Print" button again:) Thanks, Helen.j

African Star Selvage Quilt!

This stunning quilt was made by Ellen Johnson of Chalfont, PA. She is a member of the Charm Girls Guild, the Friendly Quilters, and County Line Quilters. This photo was taken at a quilt show, which explains the white card attached to the quilt. I love how she puts it all together; her quilts are exquisite!

Selvage Tote with Good "Lines"

Barbara Harrison is a dear quilting friend of mine. Her art education supercharges her quilting and benefits all who share her joyful creative journey.

I love how she arranged the selvages at the base of this bag. She uses a lot of Provencal fabrics; you can see some here. The acid green (button) paired with raspberry fabrics is another of her trademarks.

Barbara and Helen Wolf co-founded the Charm Girls quilt group and they are active in the Doylestown, PA quilt scene. They have created some outstanding historical quilts for fundraising events.

Selvage socks? Now you've seen everything!

When I told Helen Wolf (Charm Girls co-founder) that I was making a selvage vest, she made these selvage socks and gave them to me for my birthday! We all laughed so hard! Helen is a dear friend who is full of energy, enthusiasm and great ideas. Her specialty at the moment is making quilts with Asian fabrics.
Helen also started the long-running Wolf Gang quilt group.

Charm Girls Guild, Doylestown, PA

These are my dear quilting friends. If you are a hermit quilter like I was for years, consider joining or starting a small quilting group. We meet once a month to share what we are doing in our quilting, tell about discoveries of good quilt books, fabrics, methods, shows, etc., and have some good laughs. Then we have tea and goodies. This has been going on for about 4 years. Perfect every time:)

Left to right: Helen Wolf, Linda Eichhorn, Ellen Johnson, Stephanie Berk, and Barbara Harrison (seated). In this photo they are holding one of my selvage quilts, a large basket block set on point. This quilt is now in the collection of Mark Lipinski of Quilter's Home magazine. No, he didn't buy it at a Sotheby's auction, I gave it to him! (He wrote the hilarious foreword to my book "Quilts from the Selvage Edge.")
