Brookside Quiltworks Exhibits my Quilts!

Brookside Quiltworks in South Egremont, Massachusetts is exhibiting 25 of my quilts until the end of August. There are downloadable patterns available for many of the quilts. Many quilts are available for sale too. This quilt shop offers 2,800 bolts of gorgeous fabric, plus tools, books, patterns, longarm quilting services, and lessons...That must be why they call it "Quiltworks," they have the works!

L to R: Fandango, Blue Lagoon, and a Gee's Bend-style Retro Christmas quilt.

Winding Trails (center), and my sister Eileen Lovett's green Hummingbird quilt (draped on the table) which was the featured quilt for March in Curated Quilts' 2019 Calendar.

This Bourgoing Surrounded quilt made from silk dupioni, includes buttons, beads and hand embroidery.

Little Dolls quilt and Puzzle quilt. Owners Catherine and Bill Kane do a nice job arranging the exhibit. Their whole shop is a delight to visit.

My Sister Eileen's Green Quilt

This quilt was made by my sister Eileen Lovett. These 45 degree triangles look amaizng, don't they? And look at that binding! She was going to sell this quilt, and to save it, I had to buy it! I'm glad I did.

Eileen's Fabulous Green Quilt

Here's the other green quilt that I told you about yesterday, made by my sister Eileen Lovett.
Didn't she do a great job? She and her friend Nancy had a quilt challenge to use only green and white in a quilt. How about that fancy binding? I love how she sprinkled the yellow-greens around too.
Nice work, Eine! (rhymes with "fine")

Eileen Lovett's Green Quilt

This Burgoyne Surrounded quilt was made by my sister Eileen Lovett of Michigan.
The main part of the quilt is shown below; part of the border is shown above.
I love how she used fans to go around the corner. Yayy, Eine!
She has made several beautiful green quilts. I'll show you another one tomorrow.

Sarah's Quilt

My sister Eileen Lovett of Michigan made this beautiful quilt for her niece Sarah who started college this fall. Like Sarah, it's full of energy. And come to think of it, so is Eileen.
Each block is 8" square, so this quilt measures about 48" x 64."
Nice job, Eine!

Eileen's Quilt

Here's a wall quilt that my sister Eileen made. It was inspired by the view of the woods and the white birch trees that she can see from her bed when she's in New Hampshire. (See yesterday's post.) And she's only 10 minutes away from Keepsake Quilting!

I took the sunrise photo below from my bed. Then I went back to sleep. Nature photography the easy way. Haha.

My Sister Eileen's Selvage Quilts

My sister Eileen Lovett of Rhode Island came to my house yesterday for a reunion, and she brought some selvage quilts to show us. Didn't she do a great job? These three patterns are in my book "Quilts from the Selvage Edge." You can see her peeking over the top of the quilt above.

We're still friends with the girls who were our next-door neighbors when we were growing up, so we've known each other from day one. Three girls in our family, three in theirs, and our two moms. We had a great time. Eileen made up a contest called the "Mother Goose Awards" where our two moms awarded ribbons for tons of different categories; the prize was the "Goody Two-Shoes" award (baby-sized clear, sparkly jellies, $5 from Walmart) won by Sandi in the pink top. Lots of laughs. Then we looked at old photos of our birthday parties from the 1960's. Cool dresses. Haha.

The Dump Dinner!

Meet my sister Eileen Lovett (above). She's the one who made the optical illusion selvage quilt that you saw here yesterday. Eileen is the queen of creativity and fun. She actually owns two copies of the Fun Encyclopedia. She could have written it! Take a look at what we did for dinner Saturday night at their summer house in Holderness, NH. We had a dump dinner! The name had us all pretty curious all day.

Eileen boiled several big pots of shrimp, sausage, kielbasa, white potatoes, purple potatoes(!), pearl onions, and corn on the cob. She poured off the water after it was cooked, and then "dumped" it on the center of the table. Her husband Campbell (in the white hat) served each of us a little dab of coctail sauce (ketchup and horseradish), butter, and mustard. Then we ate the delicious dinner with our hands! The funny thing was that eating like this without a plate, I didn't really know exactly how much I ate. Twelve of us didn't finish all this. We had covered the table with a plastic tablecloth, then newspapers, and finally aluminum foil, so the clean up phase took just a minute. Everyone volunteered to wash the dishes. Eileen made blueberry pie for dessert, and fortunately we got plates and forks for that!

After dinner we all played a game called "Apples to Apples" and we laughed so much that our faces hurt. It was dark for a long time by the time we left the table. Then I sat outside under the stars and enjoyed the sound of the crickets. I love evenings like this.

In case you're curious, in the bottom photo you can see our other sister Lynne in the pink shirt on the left. Next to her is her son Oliver, then our brother Bruce's wife Jennifer, Sam in the "Halftime" tee-shirt (he's one of Eileen and Campbell's two sons), Michelle (Bruce and Jennifer's niece), Amelia (Lynne's daughter) is standing, and Campbell is on the far right. Our mom, Mary, is standing in the photo at the top. Not shown: Bruce, my husband Jason and me. I was taking the photos.

Eileen's Optical Illusion Selvage Top

My sister Eileen Lovett of Rhode Island is having a selvage quilt challenge with her friend Nancy Poor. This is the start of Eileen's quilt, the center. This "box" is about 18" tall. She'll add a 4" or 6" piano key border of selvages. I'll show you a better photo when it's finished, but I couldn't wait 'till then to show you this.

I'll feature photos of both quilts in October when they're both finished. Okay?

Newman Quilters Try Selvage Quilting

Posted by PicasaMeet the Newman Congregational Church Quilters of Rumford, RI. They are a wonderful bunch of quilters: friendly, funny, generous, and talented. Look at all the cool selvage pillow tops they made in one afternoon workshop.

Yes, that's my sister Eileen Lovett seated on the far right. She is my #1 quilting buddy! Eileen is the Queen of Creativity and has more energy than an army!

Meet Joke van der Veen of the Netherlands!

Here we are at the Cracker Barrel in Paducah. Left to right: My sister Eileen Lovett of RI, Karen Griska of NY (me), and Joke van der Veen of the Netherlands. I am holding a very nice tote bag made by Joke. She was visiting the AQS quilt show with her friends Lenie (see next post), Nell and Ruby.

They brought little gifts from home to give to quilters they met in the US and Eileen and I were showered with them:)
