Lepidopteran 3

This gorgeous art quilt was made by Caryl Bryer Fallert. You can see the pattern on Bryer Patch. It measures 30" x 30." Her inspiration for this quilt came from a Bradford pear leaf that she found in her neighborhood. As she sketched designs, she noticed that it looked like the wings of a butterfly.
I've been an admirer of Caryl's for a long time. Remember the birds?

Nellie Durand Makes Art Quilts Using Selvages!

Nellie Durand, an art quilter from Tennessee & Michigan made this stunning quilt called "Come With Me to the Kasbah" from blocks made for her by the Thursday Bee, members of the Smoky Mountain Quilt Guild in Knoxville, TN. The center block shown in the close up photo was made by Christine Copenhaver. What a beautiful job they did!
Nellie is also working on a "Lake" series which will have 100 quilts when she's done! She likes to use the selvages that have shaggy edges to add a nice touch to the water scenes.
Visit her blog, Nellie's Needles, to read about this quilt and see photos of it in progress. Also be sure to see the Lake series. Make a new cup of coffee now; this blog is fascinating.
