Irish Wedding Quilt

We are attending the wedding of Colin and Colleen this weekend. Colin is my "almost nephew." I've been friends with his Mom since she was born. She's only three years younger than me, but I have a good memory. And she had red hair which I had never seen before, so there's that.

I just finished this quilt for them today. It measures 72" square. A classic string quilt design, it has lots of hidden treasures such as peanuts, goldfish, a sock monkey, an owl, and lots more. Over the years maybe family members will have fun searching for little surprises in this quilt top.
This quilt was machine pieced and machine quilted (free motion stippling, and a curly vine in the white sashing). The backing is white with a tiny green design. The batting is Warm and White.

This couple will live in Boston. Thier wedding invitation had an Irish vibe so I went with the same idea with green prints and shamrocks. I hope they use it up and wear it out. :)

My Sister Eileen's Green Quilt

This quilt was made by my sister Eileen Lovett. These 45 degree triangles look amaizng, don't they? And look at that binding! She was going to sell this quilt, and to save it, I had to buy it! I'm glad I did.

Green Quilt

This quilt is called "Swiss Chard" by award-winning fiber artist Ann Feitelson.
I love all those greens. And the stripes add some pizzazz too. Nice job!

My Mom's Sampler Quilt

I made this sampler quilt for my Mom years ago. She has it on the wall in her guest bedroom. She likes green and the shamrocks are a favorite Irish motif. She has a good sense of humor, so I put some goldfish swimming around in there too.

The house (above) is her house. Haha, I used artistic license here!

Eileen's Fabulous Green Quilt

Here's the other green quilt that I told you about yesterday, made by my sister Eileen Lovett.
Didn't she do a great job? She and her friend Nancy had a quilt challenge to use only green and white in a quilt. How about that fancy binding? I love how she sprinkled the yellow-greens around too.
Nice work, Eine! (rhymes with "fine")

Eileen Lovett's Green Quilt

This Burgoyne Surrounded quilt was made by my sister Eileen Lovett of Michigan.
The main part of the quilt is shown below; part of the border is shown above.
I love how she used fans to go around the corner. Yayy, Eine!
She has made several beautiful green quilts. I'll show you another one tomorrow.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Lucy's showing the quilt that she made for her mother for Mother's Day. Doesn't she look happy? Lucy is from Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. This is from the Love to Sew blog. I love this photo!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Green Not-Baby Quilt

This pretty quilt is featured on Portland Modern Quilt Guild's Pinterest page. Donna Amberson's name is connected with this quilt, but I don't know if she's the quiltmaker. The name of the quilt is "Not Baby Quilt."

Tina's New Selvage Quilt!

Tina from Rhode Island just finished a beautiful selvage spider web quilt! It took her only 2 weeks!
Note the little orange pinwheels, the fabulous machine quilting, the selvage stripe on the back, and take a good look at the binding in the bottom photo! I've never seen binding like that before, have you?  :-0
See her post on Seaside Stitches. Yayyy, Tina!

Election Day Quilt Update

Here's my Election Day quilt top, displayed on a white design wall. (The binding will touch the little green triangles.) It measures 60" x 74." This quilt was made from Kona white and bits of all the light green/lime/chartreuse scraps in my stash. There are a few solids, but most are prints. This was inspired by the new "modern" quilts. It was going to be more simple, but I got carried away enjoying all the prints, and I love the look of all the little triangles.

Here are 2 scenes from the center of Litchfield, CT where I live. Just as the snowstorm was getting started, I made a quick trip to the post office (white building above). Then I turned around and got a photo of the Historical Society. This was the first snowfall, so I was really enjoying it. We got 6" of snow before it ended. Good quilting weather.
