Modern Quilt Pattern: Jester

Here's my newest quilt pattern: Jester! It's a raw-edge applique quilt where the fabrics do all the work. Fussy cutters will love this one. Choose a great fabric for the center medallion, then build around it. Ten pages, lots of how-to photos. Instant download pdf. Start creating now.

Please spread the photos/link around Cyberspace. Thanks so much!

Bluebirds Quilt Pattern

This simple one-patch quilt has a charming grid of 25 "bluebirds" in the middle. The light prints give it a fresh,  modern look. Early one morning the sun was shining a bright spot in the middle of this quilt. Isn't it pretty?
See the pattern for Bluebirds. View all my patterns here

Please spread this around for me: FB, Pinterest, etc. Thanks!

Here's the whole quilt. It measures 61" wide x 77" long, but it's easy to make it any size you like.
Etsy now provides immediate downloads. 7 Pages. Turn your scraps into beautiful quilts.

Etsy Enables Immediate Delivery of PDFs!

Starting today, when someone buys a PDF pattern on Etsy they receive it immediately!
That's good news for quilters in far-away time zones who don't have to wait for me to wake up.
When we're ready to sew, we don't want to wait around, right?

Here's my newest pattern: The Stacks, a modern scrap quilt. Isn't it pretty? This is fun to make too.

Asterisk Pattern is Finished!

Regular readers will remember this quilt: "Asterisk." I was thinking about the 9-patch block and planning to make a tic-tack-toe style grid when it hit me! How about making all 4 lines meet in the middle? I'm sure other quilters figured this out long before I did, but that's how I found it. Tonight I did a Google Images search for "Asterisk Quilt" and I was amazed at all the quilts! They're beautiful.

So if you missed this one a while back, take a look at the brand new pattern. It's easy too.

If we haven't seen your Asterisk quilt here yet, email me a photo at karengriska@optonline.net.

New String Quilt Pattern! Trellis

String quilts are so much fun to make, as you probably already know. But if string quilts are new to you, take a look at this pattern. It's a real stash-buster, and easy too. I like the little bouquet in the lower left corner. I've included some variations in this pattern too.

I think my next quilt will be made with the scraps from this one. Haha. Happy quilting!

Wedges Quilt Pattern: Fast, Fun and Modern

Here's the latest quilt pattern, a modern improv wedge quilt.

This bright, modern quilt is made by eye! There is very little measuring. Basically, you “wing it” and then tweak it. Using this method, the quilt goes together fast so trust your instincts and enjoy!

Could you please Pin, FB, etc? Thanks!!

I hope you're having some quilt fun today.

I'm going to visit with my sister (and quilting buddy) Eileen tonight!

Fine Lines Quilt Pattern is Finished!

How fine, you may ask? How about 1/4" finished! This is fun to make. Take a look.

I love how this quilt came out. I was stumped for a while with the border, but then it all worked out. The border looks like a big blanket stitch. It's machine quilted with wavy lines in the sashing, both vertically and horizontally. (Haha, for me, that's a lot of quilting! Piecing is my passion, not quilting.)

Like the others, this pattern is a pdf, so you get it fast by email.

If you're on Facebook or Pinterest etc, please spread this around. Thanks!!

Nantucket Quilt Pattern!

This classic nautical quilt sparkles with summer colors. The backing and binding are solid ecru, like sails. The ecru ties look like seagulls in the air, and upon close inspection the little knots resemble boat rigging.

This pattern is for a quilt 61" wide x 85" long. It will keep your tallest loved one warm and cozy. Perfect size for college dorm beds: XL Twin. Yardage per block is provided so you can easily make your quilt any size you like.

If you are new to the idea of improvisational quilt design, this pattern is for you! You'll see how to lay out the quilt 2 ways: the traditional way and using improvisation. Directions for optional tying included.
Skill level: EASY

Star Bright is Done!

The quilt and the pattern are finished! I decided to go with Version #2 (scroll down to see post) because I really like the illusion of an empty box in the middle of this star. Thanks for all your input!

Here are some close-ups.

This is the first time I've tied a quilt. It was fun. I used DMC Pearle cotton #5.

Brand New Selvage Quilt Pattern!

Just finished this today! Here's my new selvage quilt pattern, "Cane Weave!" It's a pdf tutorial so you can get it now via email. Then you can print it if you like. This quilt goes together fast, and it's lots of fun to make. You know you already have all the ingredients in your sewing room! Haha. And more, I'm sure. There's also a Photo Gallery section with lots of interesting selvages to see too. Take a look, I'm really excited about this quilt. It's different from the quilts in the "Quilts from the Selvage Edge" book in construction and appearance.

Come back tomorrow for a really big giveaway! (Hint: Remember the skinny string quilt that we made?)

If you'd spread the word about this pattern on your blog, that would be wonderful. Thanks!

Narrow Stairsteps and YOUR Quilts

This simple block is a good project for new quilters, and it goes together fast. It looks like hedges in a formal garden, doesn't it? Take a look at the book, then leave a comment for the fat quarter giveaway. I hope you're not going "stair-crazy" yet! Haha. I do get a little carried away sometimes.

YOUR QUILTS: Email a photo of your stairstep quilt and I'll feature it here on the Selvage Blog. (Please send it as an attachment.)
