ONLINE Block-of-the-Month Program!

Visit The Quilt BOM for free Block-of-the-Month projects starting (now) September 2019-June 2020.

I'm designing the blocks to be fast and fun to make (nothing fussy), blocks that will make a nice quilt, and can surely be made from existing stash.

My guild, Hearthside Quilters, will be using this site for our BOM. Your guild is invited to use it too and hold the drawings at your meetings. See The Quilt BOM for details.

See some layout ideas below for this block. Click HERE to see more quilt patterns.

New Quilt Pattern: Column Sampler!

Just finished! This new Column Sampler quilt is so much fun to make. "Liberated" quilt-making methods remove the hassle of measuring. This quilt has Snowball blocks in three sizes, Bowties, Shoo-Fly blocks, Checkerboards, and Birds-in-the-Air (variation),
See the pattern here: Column Sampler quilt.
I would appreciate Pins, fb, and blog mentions!

Little tigers by Cotton and Steel add some extra whimsy. I can't resist adding fun surprises like this.

New Quilt Pattern! Saranac

I love this log cabin variation with the little 16-patch corner blocks. And I like the depth created by the "dark, light, dark, light" arrangement of some of the prints. See the pattern here
*
Saranac is an Iroquois Indian word meaning a cluster of stars. It's also the name of a quaint town and a sparkling lake in the Adirondack Mountains of New York state.

See the pink tigers below? I like those Cotton & Steel prints.

New Pattern: Park Place!

Hot off the presses today! Park Place is a light and airy modern quilt that's fun to make. I see fluttering flags, curly ribbon and garden paths, depending on how I look at it.

This quilt measures 61" x 82" so it's great for XL Twin dorm beds. I like those black polka dots. :)

Please Pin, fb, blog, etc. for me. Thanks!

See the pattern.

Pastiche Quilt Pattern!

Gather up all your quilting fabrics for this one. Everything is on the menu: gorgeous favorites, ugly fabrics, old and new, large and small prints, the whole shebang. You only need a little strip so you won’t even miss it. Stash quilts make a nice souvenir of our quilt-making journeys.

The Pastiche* pattern has lots of helpful hints for better results and more fun. No stress.

*Pastiche: (pa-steesh'), noun, a work of art that mixes styles, materials, etc. Hodgepodge.

See the Pastiche pattern. Please spread the word on Pinterest, blogs, fb, etc. Thanks!

Mountain Quilt Pattern from Bonnie Hunter

This quilt "Scrappy Mountain Majesties" by Bonnie Hunter is brilliant! See her tutorial on Quiltville. She also shows variations you can make by rearranging these same strips other ways. Love it!

String Quilts 101

If you're a new quilter, take a look at this fun and easy way to make a string quilt. Make your block bigger than your ruler, then trim. Easy, right? Use any size ruler you like. I used a 6" square in this photo. These strips are about 1 1/2" wide but you can vary the widths.

If you like this, please Pin It. Thanks.

Orange Quilts Plus a Free Tutorial

This photo was featured on the Hirshfield's Color Club blog. Hirshfield's is a paint and home decorating store in the Midwest USA. I like this simple but bold orange log cabin quilt (above).

Leah at  the Green Bee blog recently made this orange flying geese quilt (above). She says her favorite part of the process is hand-sewing the binding on the back of the quilt. I don't hear that very often.

And finally, here's a free tutorial for the Modern Chevron Baby Quilt (below) from Kirsty at You Had Me at Bonjour. Kirsty is an Australian living in France. You'll love her blog.

What a modern color combination: orange and gray. Very pretty.

Brand New Selvage Quilt Pattern!

Just finished this today! Here's my new selvage quilt pattern, "Cane Weave!" It's a pdf tutorial so you can get it now via email. Then you can print it if you like. This quilt goes together fast, and it's lots of fun to make. You know you already have all the ingredients in your sewing room! Haha. And more, I'm sure. There's also a Photo Gallery section with lots of interesting selvages to see too. Take a look, I'm really excited about this quilt. It's different from the quilts in the "Quilts from the Selvage Edge" book in construction and appearance.

Come back tomorrow for a really big giveaway! (Hint: Remember the skinny string quilt that we made?)

If you'd spread the word about this pattern on your blog, that would be wonderful. Thanks!
