Brookside Quiltworks Exhibits my Quilts!

Brookside Quiltworks in South Egremont, Massachusetts is exhibiting 25 of my quilts until the end of August. There are downloadable patterns available for many of the quilts. Many quilts are available for sale too. This quilt shop offers 2,800 bolts of gorgeous fabric, plus tools, books, patterns, longarm quilting services, and lessons...That must be why they call it "Quiltworks," they have the works!

L to R: Fandango, Blue Lagoon, and a Gee's Bend-style Retro Christmas quilt.

Winding Trails (center), and my sister Eileen Lovett's green Hummingbird quilt (draped on the table) which was the featured quilt for March in Curated Quilts' 2019 Calendar.

This Bourgoing Surrounded quilt made from silk dupioni, includes buttons, beads and hand embroidery.

Little Dolls quilt and Puzzle quilt. Owners Catherine and Bill Kane do a nice job arranging the exhibit. Their whole shop is a delight to visit.

Moonlight, a Strip Quilt and Pattern

"Moonlight" is my most recent quilt finish. The (Kona Ash Gray) sashing color gives a moonlight look to this quilt. And I love the piano keys. Using only two strips rather than four, and placing them asymmetrically adds a little modern whimsy. I used the same striped fabric for backing and binding. You can see the striped binding in the photo above. And here are some detail photos below. Pattern coming soon on Etsy. I'll keep you posted.

Interweave Quilt Pattern

Are you sewing your stash in 2019? (see over 3,000 pics at #sewingmystash on Instagram) Here's an interesting scrap pattern to consider: Interweave. Fun to make. I'm listing this finished quilt in my Etsy shop as well.

I hope you are all staying warm, especially in the Midwest USA. Polar vortex, go away!

New Puzzle Quilt Pattern!

Here's my first finish of 2019! A fun scrap Puzzle quilt measuring 45.5" x 60." I love this one; it reminds me of good family times. I used my scrap stash for this, including that black and white polka dot fabric that finds its way into many of my quilts. My sister Eileen gave me a pack of Cotton and Steel prints that I love. This pattern also has 6 photos of other design variations for inspiration.

Nancy Sonneborn's Fabulous Fandango Quilt!

This stunning Fandango quilt is a recent finish by Nancy Sonneborn. What a beauty! Her blocks have a lot more pieces than mine. I love it! See the pattern for Fandango in the sidebar on the right.

This is what Nancy had to say about her quilt:
My fans started out a little wonky but improved as I kept at it.  They are all in the quilt and now,  I cannot tell which ones I questioned the execution of.  All the blocks are from multiple scraps I cut before beginning.  No blocks are identical but because I only used the original cuttings the colorway extends throughout.  The most fun happened once I began putting it together.  It did take a while for that time to come but the final product is so worth it.  I do love your patterns and "sewing by eye."

Boardwalk Quilt Pattern is Available on Etsy!

This quilt combines the charm of a classic string quilt with the light and airy vibe of a modern quilt.
See the pattern here: Boardwalk Quilt Pattern.

There's plenty of time to make a bunch before Christmas! Fun to make. No fuss.

I'm loving that black and white scribbly fabric (above). Can't find the selvage for details. I'll update this post when I find it. Lots of good fabric-arranging fun in the making of this quilt!

I would appreciate Pins, fb, and blog mentions!

Little tigers by Cotton and Steel add some extra whimsy. I can't resist adding fun surprises like this.

New Quilt Pattern! Saranac

I love this log cabin variation with the little 16-patch corner blocks. And I like the depth created by the "dark, light, dark, light" arrangement of some of the prints. See the pattern here
*
Saranac is an Iroquois Indian word meaning a cluster of stars. It's also the name of a quaint town and a sparkling lake in the Adirondack Mountains of New York state.

See the pink tigers below? I like those Cotton & Steel prints.

New Puddysticks Quilt Pattern

Here's my latest quilt pattern: Puddysticks. It measures 65" x 84," XL twin (dorm bed). Instant download pdf, photos, helpful hints, 5 pages. You might already have all the fabrics you need for this string quilt, a fun stash-buster.

The ease of making this quilt is what led to the title “Puddysticks.” In South Africa it’s a children’s phrase that means “very easy.” For example, “The math quiz was puddysticks! I finished in five minutes.” Or, if you are very cool, you might say, “That quiz was pudds!”

See pattern here.

*Pastiche: (pa-steesh'), noun, a work of art that mixes styles, materials, etc. Hodgepodge.

The Optimist Quilt!

Quilters who haven't yet made a string quilt are in for a big treat! This is a classic string quilt with a modern look. Fast and easy, it will make an optimist out of anyone. See The Optimist pattern.

I took this photo last night at 7:30 with no flash! I love this time of year.

This quilt lends itself well to fussy-cutting. I especially love the polka dots and that little red tiger, and the brown twigs, and the chairs (bottom photo)...see what I mean?

Honeycomb Quilt and Pattern are Finished!

The Honeycomb quilt is finished! And the pattern is too! I love how this quilt came out; it has a light and airy, modern look. The border is subdued so as not to distract from the honeycombs. If you're a Pinner, I'd appreciate a Pin. Thanks.
