Gail Mitchell in Eastern Canada just made her first selvage quilt, and what a stunning quilt it is. She says it was fun and only took a couple of hours to make. Gail calls it the "Cat Mat," and it measures 15 inches square.
Every selvage quilter has her own signature style, made up of her choices of selvages, how wide she makes each strip, and how much of the printed fabric she reveals. Gail's style is awesome; using practically no printed part of the fabric, those color windows really stand out! I love it. Her kitten loves it too.

Well kitty looks quite comfy on her (his?) pretty new mat. Great job!
ReplyDeleteCats love quilts and for sure they adore those quilts, especially made for their personal use ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove this little sevage-quilt, too!

Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to let you know that I have featured your blog on Cuteable today.
http://cuteable.com/
Kitty loves her new Cat Matt! I've had to wash it already... I think I'll make one with black and white selveges, to match her fur colors.... Thanks for featuring us on your blog. I'm now collecting selvages from everyone I know.
ReplyDeleteI have seen Gail's Cat Matt "in person", and it is awesome!! Great job Gail, and Missy loves it too... Guess I'm going to have to make one for Ollie!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat matt Gail! I guess that I would have to make three to handle the feline population here.
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to see another quilter who spoils her kitties with quilted goodies like I do! I think my tuxedo cat (Sir Stanley Speckles) would look marvelous on a black and white selvage mat!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the kitty mat. My cats love laying around on my rag quilts but I think a selvage quilt would be "purrfect" for them. LOL
ReplyDeletespoiling the critters! This is my kind of blog. Love the mat for your cat. Very cool indeed.
ReplyDeleteToo cute. Your cat truly appreciates this cute quilt.
