Selvage Pillow Tutorial at Moda Bake Shop

Front is shown above. Back is shown below.
I made this pretty selvage pillow and wrote up a tutorial for the Moda Bake Shop site: http://www.modabakeshop.com/2009/03/selvage-pillow.html. As you know, Moda has added Scrapbags containing scraps and selvage strips to their product line of Charm Packs, FQ Bundles, Jelly Rolls, Honey Buns, Layer Cakes (those are 10 inch squares of compatible fabrics), Turnovers (triangles), and more.
-
If you are waiting for the right project to begin using your selvages, this may be it! This is very quick and easy. And it would look so good in your quilt studio...or make a nice gift for a fabric-loving friend.
-
If you don't have any selvages, no problem! Moda will hold a contest soon - and you may be the winner of a whole boatload of scraps and selvages. I'll keep you posted.
-
P.S. Not ALL the scrapbags have selvages, so check the bag before buying!

  1. Don't get me so excited, Karen--a giveaway involving a BOATLOAD of selvages?! That sounds WAY bigger than the 5 pound bag I got and you remember how excited I was about that!!! By the way, your pillow is absolutely selvalicious!!

  2. The pillow is so fun looking, Karen. I have to admit, at first I was "wondering" about selvages but after following your blog now for a few weeks, I have to admit I am anxious to start a collection of selvages. I'm first going to go through my scrap drawer to see if I have any pieces that I can use there. THEN - I'll start a "selvage" bin.

I had no idea Moda is going to sell "selvages". How fun for those of us who haven't been smart enough to collect them.

But, as they say, better late than never.

  4. Karen, this pillow is frankly pretty cool!! It would look wonderful in my home.... hmmm... perhaps I need to make some too for my house.

Of course, I first have to catch up on my quilting first.
