Little Selvage Pin-Cushions
I made these little pin-cushions as "party favor" type gifts. Each one was wrapped in a clear bag, then tied with pretty satin ribbons. The collection made a festive decoration!
Sandy, I used polyester fiberfill that you can buy at Michael's or JoAnne's in a big bag for little $. If you fill the pin-cushion (or doll etc.) a little at a time you get more uniform results than if you insert a handful all at once. That's how you get thick bumps.
I wish you were all there! I'd make you all a pin-cushion.
you know how you see something and it reminds of several other things, well when I saw your pin cushions it reminded of when I use to make bean-bags for the kids, I would use popcorn or after the OCD kicked in I would buy the 50lb clean corn from the feed store (but that's another story) Back to the original thought: buck shot- the small bean bags filled with buck-shot make great decorative 'weights' to keep on the cutting table to "hold" the piece of fabric from falling to the floor when one is cutting small strips off large pieces. (my bad but I cut across the top)
Sandy, They are kind of squishy. But of course you could make it "just right." :)
Cheryl, I like the idea of using a heavy version for weights. Um....where do you get buckshot? Do you have to pry open some bullets? I'll wait to hear from you before trying this at home!
Super cute Karen! And I bet you're right (about Martha) :-)

Thanks Karen. Another question ... is the polyfill packed in thus they're hard? OR are the cushions kind of squishy?
