"I have a new Canon printer. I could run fabric through my old printer but for some reason this one just doesn't like it. I iron the fabric to freezer paper and make sure the edges are neatly trimmed but this printer just eats it. If there are tips I'm not aware of that might help I'd certainly appreciate it." --Stephanie
If she's not doing it already, maybe she can try printing it on the setting for heavier paper, such as photo paper. Or feed it through manually.
ReplyDeleteI've had success with the purchased printable fabric sheets from the craft department. I'd see if those would work and then try to match the stiffness and thickness of the fabrics as well as the settings it suggests for the printer.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'll check back for any other terrific suggestions.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen for posting this.
If you fold your freezer paper over the leading edge of your fabric, and press it down, it is less apt to jam in your printer.
ReplyDeleteI use an 8 1/2 x 11 Avery label, peel it off the backing, stick it to my fabric, trim the fabric and put thru the printer. Works every time, and you can reuse the label a few times.
ReplyDeletetry trimming off the 2 corners of the fabric that go into the printer first. you only need to trim them a smidge, not a big bite. i have a canon also, and i set my perferences to a thicker paper. good luck!
ReplyDeleteI also put a piece of scotch tape across the top of the fabric ironed on freezer paper. This helps to feed it. Good Luck!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Lots of good ideas. I knew there was a lot of expertise out there! This should get Stephanie going. :)

I LOVE to using my computer and printer in my quilting.....don't give up!
I've been away so this may be too late. My printer hates it too. I use card stock. I spray the card stock with quilt adhesive, place the fabric 1/8" down and run it through manually. Works for me.
