Melinda in Marietta, GA made this charming selvage cover for her Kindle (Amazon's wireless reading device). She started by sewing the selvages to batting, then she added the black and white lining. Nice lime green binding too!
See Melinda's blog: http://www.melinful.blogspot.com/. I thought the Kindle would be hard on the eyes, bright like a computer screen, but it isn't. Any opinions out there about using the Kindle?
What a clever idea! I love these colours too!

Great Kindle cover. I love my Kindle--wasn't sure I would but I'm hooked. My fav feature is the dictionary, I keep learning new words and/or confirming what old ones really mean. And being able to easily carry around several books & mags and getting more quickly, etc.

Another great inspiration from Melinda! I love the Kindle case. I've been noodling with ideas for a book cover and this is giving me the push I need.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Kindle, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread -- or since movable type. It's unfortunate that Amazon hasn't hooked up with a bricks-and-mortar vendor yet so you can see and feel it for yourself. BUT Amazon does have a 30-day return policy. Get one and I know you'll never send it back. After a few pages you'll be hooked!
This is wonderful!
ReplyDeletegreat creative job!
Makes me want to buy a Kindle!

LOVE this! Makes me want to go out & buy a Kindle just so I can make one of these for it :)
ReplyDeleteI love her little Kindle cover. There are so many ways to make one, why not with selvages.
ReplyDeleteGreat Kindle cover!
ReplyDeleteI love my kindle. It's nice to have several books available at all times. Lots of the "classics" -- Oliver Twist, Jungle Book, Little Women, The Scarlet Letter -- can be downloaded for free... perfect for summer reading! It has a Text to Speech feature which I used for the first time today with my first graders as a part of our study of meat eating plants. We listened to Charles Darwin's Insectivorous Plants (none of us understood the book, but we had fun listening for words we've heard before in our studies)! Rumor has it Target will be pairing up with Amazon to have the Kindles available in stores...
Love it! Melinda is so talented!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE my Kindle. It was a gift 2 Christmas ago from my kids and I've been hooked ever since. And this cover is a perfect project.
