I bought this little square coaster on a recent trip to Block Island, Rhode Island. It was made in Vietnam using magazine pages and glue. It measures 4" x 4" and it's 1/4" thick. I paid $5. I've seen similar items for sale in museum shops. I think it has a look similar to that of selvages lined up together. Do you agree?
Interesting writing shows up a little bit. Several languages, it looks like. I don't see any English.

ReplyDeleteVery nice. Seeing your coaster made me recall how an aunt used to decorate a trash can. She would tightly roll pages from a catalog and glue them, individually in side-by-side vertical strips around the outside of a round can. Then, she'd cut a straight edge along the top and bottom. Made for a colorful room accessory. Thanks for the memory!
