This quilt started with the block in the top row, center. (See yesterday's post.) Here are the odd fabric combinations that I had in mind. Now, how to describe this quilt? Modern (yellow dots on gray, turquoise and lime green, b&w paint splatter)? Retro? Floral? I love that b&w fabric in the center block. Notice the two blocks going in the wrong (inconsistent) direction? Should I "fix" those, or leave it as is?
HI karen
ReplyDeleteI had so much fun studying the quilt and seeing the directional change. Then I read the post - leave it is my vote, I love quilt puzzles -
xo
Love the two color rail fences. I love the misdirection of the blocks. I'd leave them as they are.
ReplyDeleteI'd keep those odd squares; they add a lot of fun to the quilt
ReplyDeleteYou could always use the two ther directions in the corners so that it looks like the center is getting zapped
ReplyDeleteI like it just like it is!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it! I would NOT fix the blocks going in a different direction.... I think it adds so much interest!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI thought you changed directions on purpose - definitely leave it! More interesting...
ReplyDeleteLeave it as is -- love the graphical nature of the quilt - and the reversed blocks make the quilt appear antique albeit new and modern. I like that juxaposition of modern vs historical styles.
ReplyDeleteDON'T touch those blocks, leave them exactly as they are. Did someone already say that? LOL Looks great - makes the viewer pay attention.
ReplyDeleteThe consensus is to leave the odd arrangement. It is dramatic and playful. But I have to be the lone voice saying I liked yesterday's arrangement best, partly because the variety of fabrics gives me enough variety and oomph so the odd directional blocks feel like overload. Just a difference of perspective, I think.
ReplyDeleteIts just fun! Fix it? No Way!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing
Gotta say that I agree with most of the other commenters.
ReplyDeleteI like the "mis" direction.
As always, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Fun!
this is wonderful! oh please leave it
ReplyDeleteadds so much fun to the quilt!!!
can't wait to see your sons quilt like this!
I may just have to make one too.
thanks for sharing.

Love this! I think the occasional mismatch is interesting. Or go with one diagonal row all going the other way. Adds interest.
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous as it is. I say, do NOT "fix" them! This reminds me of an African American quilt in one of the books--is it "Bold Improvisation"?
ReplyDeleteLove that black and white herringbone in there.
I really love this quilt. It just keep dancing around. Your fabric choices are fabulous. It is making me just smile and smile. Bonnie
