Years ago my sister Eileen gave me this antique soap dish, and I've been using it to hold my pins. It adds such a nice touch to my sewing experience. Good gift idea for our sewing buddies too.
This is what's on my design wall today. Rather than just doing the usual 16-patch, I'm thinking about adding something improvisational in a stripe down the middle. Maybe a row of triangles. Any suggestions?
Checkerboard fever is hitting the quilting blogs! I love yours! I have seen many different ones, 64 patch, 36 patch, 16 patch, and the 16 patch is still my favorite. As soon as I finish my red one I need to do another!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree a beautiful touch! Love what you are working on. Wanda is right... checkerboard fever is definitely spreading. Do you need a ride tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea the pretty pin bowl is! I'm so going to dump the plain old plastic container they came in and dig out a pretty hidden bowl to enjoy using my pins from. Thanks for sharing that inspiring idea.
ReplyDeleteLove the looks of the 16-patch on your design wall!
ReplyDeleteThe floral 16 patchs are really pretty. Wonder where you will end with this one?!
ReplyDeleteHow about a 2" strip of black with white polka dots? It looks like you may have some patches with black in them. It would bring them out and I think it would look kind of fun.
ReplyDeleteThe pin dish is a great use for the vintage soap dish.
ReplyDeleteI think a column of HST or flying geese down the center would give the quilt some character.
Funny I was thinking freestyle flying geese too.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you decide it will be a winner.......great layout :0)
Happy sewing
Glad to see such a beautiful project in your workshop!! The soap dish is nice, too :)
ReplyDeleteHow do ideas like checkerboard fever happen. I guess they start somewhere and develop a life of their own. I do love yours. An improv strip would be great, but I will not venture a suggestion of what it should be. Bonnie
