This is what I'm up to this morning: Thimbles, and lots of "low volume" playful improvisation. But it needs something. I'm trying to figure out what. Maybe something orderly in the border to calm things down. I do like how the thimbles dance across the quilt. I think I like the 4 apples too. Any thoughts?
I like it! I can see a thin border of a darker gray then an outside border of your low volume scrappiness again (with no red). I think that would contain it and look lovely. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteThis is very fun! Perhaps a solid border?
ReplyDeleteI like it, too! The thimbles make me smile. Some creative bordering and you are good to go. Those thimbles really speak to me...now I want to play the thimble game, too!
ReplyDeleteA red border, I think it needs more red! But then again, I'd be sashing each block with red.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute idea, using the thimble in that way! Way to go, Karen!
Looks great. How about a thin 1/4" or 1/2" solid red border followed by a scrappy border the width of one block??
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what you decide.
Very fun as-is. Maybe some embellishments with hand quilting or buttons on the thimbles to give them some texture. You might also throw in a few of different sizes or some in unexpected places--some "oops" thimbles. Love the apples!

ReplyDeleteagree with Lou, a teeny bit of red in the border somewhere. French knot/seed the thimbles, to give them authentic texture texture? Looking good! (sorry, horrendous spelling in last post!)
ReplyDeletetake a black and white shot and see what that tells you
ReplyDeleteMy vote is on red border too :)
