This puff quilt was made by Katie Olson of Serendipity Studio in Washington. It measures 46" x 38." She used a soft, minky fabric. The ruffle is a nice touch too. They're also called bubble, biscuit, or Yorkshire puff quilts.
There is a video by Rose Smith on You Tube showing how to make a puff quilt.
Have you ever made one? I haven't, but it looks like fun.
I made one out of taffeta for my mother, years ago when I was in high school. They are a lot of fun to make and definitely worth the effort.

Back in the dark ages this is one of the first 'quilts'I learned to make - we didn't have minky then. But I remember it was fun.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is lovely, but I'm allergic to puff quilts! When my oldest niece was born in 1977, my mother made her a puff quilt. She was not a quilter at the time, but saw the instructions in a magazine. When my niece had her first daughter, she requested a reproduction of her puff quilt. By that time, my mother wasn't quilting anymore, so I took on the role of cutting and assembling. Stuffing the puffs was a group effort with my mother, sister and daughter each taking turns. A keepsake, to be sure!
ReplyDeleteLots of good memories connected with puff quilts! Thanks for sharing.
