I like the bottom one the best. You've chosen a fun font to use - it speaks to me!
I like the bottom one, too! There is more detail showing up of the texture of those threads.....and the red lettering is very pleasing and catchy.
They both work! I keep changing my mind--I think it's a draw.
The bottom one, except I'd make the word "Felted" a bit bolder.
I too liked the bottom one, but was surprised that the voting is favoring the first one. The title grabs my attention more in the 2nd one.
Both are clever, so it's hard to choose. I always like angled lines. And I like the use of red in the title of the second cover. Now, off to enter my vote.

Second one I think appeals more as it seems more ordered - that's what you want from instructions!
