Upcycling from the quilt room floor

I'm working on a scrap quilt that is producing lots of tiny scraps. (Notice the irony here? I didn't, at first.) They looked so pretty on the floor, I decided to arrange them on a white 10" square with a dab of glue behind each scrap. Then starting from the outer edge, I sewed  a  big spiral all the way to the middle. I was going to make a wreath, but why leave the middle empty when there are so many nice fabrics?
I don't know if this will ever be a quilt but it looks great on the design wall in the meantime.

  1. I thought I was the only one that did crazy things like that!

  2. Fun idea! Someone said, "no scrap too small." I think it was Deb Rowden.

  3. This really is "up" cycling! As in picking it UP off the floor! Gotta love that. Sounds like a book in the making. :)

  5. I've felt for years that at the end of any quilting project you have MORE fabric than what you started with, and those scraps multiply themselves when we're not looking!

  6. Isn't it fun when good things just appear!

  7. Oooo, I like this! I've been "stringing" for weeks and have lots and lots of too small bits. Maybe I should be throwing them on the floor instead of into the trashcan. Hmm, really cool idea. I really like the way you're sewing (quilting?) them.
