I have a nice big window in front of my 1956 Singer 99 machine. Every day I see God's wonderful creations as I sew. No matter what the season, I see something beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI have an apothecary-type jar that holds my basting pins. But it's no ordinary jar -- it's emblazoned with a large Atlanta Braves logo. Yay for spring training! :)

I have a white felt design wall just to the right of the sewing table. A QIP is on the felt and along the bottom are several photo ideas for the future. Just on the other side of the window in front of the sewing machine is forsythia bush which is which a stopping spot for sparrows and sometimes a lady cardinal. I watch them now while there are no leaves, later I won't be able to see them very well.

ReplyDeleteFor inspiration I have a small magnet board that I put up photos and on another wall I have lovely piece of upholstery fabric that I pin photos and magazine pictures on.

How cute is that? I have some glass jars with yoyo's, perle cotton, and embroidery floss. I've got a clothes line with mug rugs and mini quilts from swaps, too. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI have a 7' x 8' design wall that I use for hanging all sorts of items I collect including inspirational pictures and bits. I do have another design wall that is 8' x 8' that I try to keep for just quilt designing.

My jars of buttons connect me with my mom who died almost 40 years ago when I was 19… As a child, I loved sorting my mom's buttons, many of which I'm now enjoying as a reminder of her. :D
ReplyDeleteMy inspiration is volunteering in a kindergarten class teaching art projects that are created in a "non-judgmental" environment. Amazing the imaginations these little ones have and how colorful their pieces can be!

ReplyDeleteI have several things that I really like in my sewing room. One is my (now deceased) Mom's old sewing basket that still has her threads, needles and stuff in it. I think of how she would make us all kinds of lovely and practical things when we were kids. Another thing I have is a small magnet a friend gave me that says "I tried being normal once. It was the worst two minutes of my life!" It reminds me not to be so serious about stuff and life in general.

Lots are sewing related - and they come in all colors and sizes. Just a very happy place to lose your thoughts in and it inspires me to put colors together that I wouldn't ordinarily think about.

ReplyDeleteFor decoration and inspiration I have glass jars full of buttons, a jar full of buttons and knitting needles and old kitchen scales display some of my pincushions. I love to look at them and the practical aspect is that I can see what I've got so don't have to go hunting. What a lovely giveaway.

ReplyDeleteI have 2 quilts...my very first one that I hand quilted and love to remind me how much work I put into quilting it! Now I machine quilt all my projects so this is a special quilt indeed! Leave all my jelly rolls out...hoping to find an inspiration for quilting them! Nice giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have lots of decorations and momentos in my large sewing room. First comes to mind is a photo of my grandmother who inspires me every day. I have photos of grandchildren in unusual frames, old buttons of my mother, pin cushions made by friends, sewing related decor from friends (a ceramic tile from Alaska in a quilt motif for example), another grandmother's travel case filled with cards I have received, children's quilt story books, a college picture of my father, fabrics from 2 Australian women I met at the Houston Festival one year--the list goes on!
