Moda Selvage Scrap Bags? Yes!

Elena McDowell of Raleigh, NC bought this scrap bag of Moda selvage strips at her local quilt shop, Wish Upon a Quilt. The bag has 40 different fabrics, all 2 1/2" wide and 32" long - all for $9.99. She says they're selling pretty well too. This is the first time I've heard of this! Has anyone else seen these for sale?

  1. Our quilt shop can't keep them in stock, they are selling so well!! Looked on quiltshops.com (wonderful quilt shop search engine)and it seems other shops who have started carrying them are also selling out--the quilt world is turning SELVAGE!!!! Hooray!! Moda is the first company to get on the selvage bandwagon, but I'm sure they won't be the last.

  2. I have heard of these, but I prefer to collect selveges as a true recycle project. I just finished my first project. Many thanks for the inspiration!

  3. I've heard of them. I even won a 'strip tease bag' from Robert Kaufman in December.

It's fun to get a variety of fabrics, not necessarily just one fabric line like jelly rolls, sushi rolls, and honey buns offer.

  4. I would think fabric companies would want their selvages showing up in as many selvage quilts as possible. And I'd make the selvages look really cool, too.

Maybe they'll upgrade the designs on the selvages, and today's selvage quilts will have a "vintage" look. We'll see.

  6. Have not heard about them...thanks for telling us. Haven't seen them at the local quilt shop. Maybe someone at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival will have them for sale and I can get me a bag or two...
