As you know, I've been unpacking my boxes of quilt stuff and setting up my quilting room. One of the best boxes was full of quilt tops. This one is from my silk phase. I found silk dupioni (it has little nubs in it) in NYC for $7/yard a few years ago and stocked up on some pretty colors.
This photo was taken on the porch that's outside my quilt room, above our dining room. Yes, we still have over a foot of snow!
Aren't these colors delicious? This top is improvisationally pieced; lots of fun.
The
winner of the "Flying Colors" book is Mimi from Ohio, and the
Time for Mimi blog.
The
winner of the Tinkerbell fat quarters is Shelia Heichel of TX and the
Magical Damsel Fly blog.
TQS winners will be announced soon. Mr. Random Number Guy got tired. :)
Ooh what a gorgeous top!
ReplyDeleteWow, that quilt is absolutely Yummy and would look great on a bedroom wall. Waking up to those colours would start your day with so much warmth and enthusiasm!! And silk.. the yummy bit..
ReplyDeleteGorgeous discovery! Love the texture in the close up. I'll bet Jackie would squeal over this one. Sorry about your snow. Congrats to the winners.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners! Have fun with your new toys!
ReplyDeleteOh my gravy, those silk colors are gaw-juss and then some! And at a $7/yd bargain price? Priceless!
What a wonderful find!! Can't believe it was left unfinished and in a box! Love the colors and the close up shows your fine craftsmanship! Enjoy it wherever you decide to hang it (or use it)! We've had more snow melt here in southern CT than you have in Litchfield County. I can actually see parts of my deck now-- a sign of spring!! Your snow is still so white and clean-- I threw birdseed out on my deck (when the window to the birdfeeder was frozen shut with ice!) and the birds and squirrels have visited (but they've left kind of a mess!)
ReplyDeleteLove your silk top. So yummy!
ReplyDeleteoh that is gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is beautiful. I have a box of silk scraps I acquired from a job I use to have at a shop that make custom clothes for people who show western horses. I did mostly alterations. They were cleaning house and I snatched up the silk pieces. At least you have a top made from your bargain find!
ReplyDeleteSTUNNING! love the gold HST's around... everything you touch is Lovely... ;-) see ya next week! Bring a show and tell!
ReplyDeleteOoh, this is just luscious. Think I'll have to start a silk phase of my own.
ReplyDeleteHow absolutely beautiful you are amazing, even when stored in a box.
ReplyDeleteThat is just beautiful. I've always longed to make something out of dupioni silk and after seeing your quilt, I will be looking for it in the future. I saw a quilt-as-you-go quilt done in neutrals all in dupioni silk and it too was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeletereally lovely silk quilt! love the color with the black surrounding it. It's exciting to find things, don't you think?
