Turkey Red Flower Power Quilt

This vintage "Turkey Red Flower Power Quilt" was part of the recent Flights and Fantasies Quilt Show. It was made in Pennsylvania around 1860, hand appliqued and quilted, measuring 73" x 73." These big chunky flowers look more like 1960 than 1860; this quilter was way ahead of her time. The little orange dot in the center of each flower is a nice touch.

  4. That was one of my favorites! It struck me how many of the antiques fit the "modern" aesthetic. I can't wait to see the new exhibit at the New England Quilt Museum.

  5. I love this quilt and am about 3/4 of the way through a modern version, same colors and complete with the little circles. It will take me a while to hand quilt it though in those big sweeping arcs. What an amazing quilt for the 1860s. Thanks for sharing it.
