This quilt top-in-progress is like the recent "Tracks" quilt, but I'm using only light and medium summery prints (no darks). Between each double row of rectangle strips, there will be a 1" strip of floral on black. You can see the layout on my "design floor" below. I want this to be light and summery, but a little black adds some life here. I love black with bright colors. (That's 1" cut, and 1/2" when sewn. So it's just a touch of black.)
I have such a good time including little surprises like the teacup and the bicycle below...and that squiggly writing. If it says something, I hope it's nice. Haha. I feel another selvage quilt coming on soon. The box is getting pretty full as you can imagine. And this is the Selvage Blog, after all. This "Summer Paths" quilt contains nearly 200 different fabrics (used more than once each, of course). I hope your heart is happy with quilting fun.
Oh, it's really, really wonderful!!! I love the black touches and the fussy cut pieces too!
ReplyDeleteOh what a wonderful quilt...I love how you fussy cut some pieces. It provides such a treat to the viewers eyes. A grown up/fabric version of "I Spy"!! I agree with the use of a little bit of black...in decorating and with quilts. I read somewhere black can help "ground" other colors.

Es muy bonito con tantas telas diferentes, el negro le da mucha vida.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous - love it! What a great way to use up lots of scraps. Cant wait to see the end result
ReplyDeleteOooh, I like it!!!!
ReplyDeleteSew pretty. I love that skinny touch of black and what a perfect name.
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful Karen!! Love the black sashing in between. The right touch.
ReplyDeleteIt's captures the feel of summer! You have great patience sewing small pieces together -- I think the last three you've shown have had truly hundreds of small squares or rectangles. Perhaps the repetitiveness of the sewing has a zen-like peacefulness.
ReplyDeleteI love it when there are hidden treasures in a quilt...it makes the quilt into a giant game of "I Spy".
ReplyDeleteoh, this is lovely. and what a great idea to use our scraps!! thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI think the little black touches really add to the quilt.
