Tokyo Quilt Festival
Ayumi lives in Tokyo and attended the Tokyo Quilt Festival. She posted this quilt on her blog: Pink Penguin. Her post is loaded with great quilt photos! She doesn't mention who made this one. It's truly amazing!
The show was held at the Tokyo Dome. It happened over 3 years ago, but the photos are as good as ever.

Prize-Winning Selvage Quilt from Down Under!
Meet Anne Robinson from Melbourne, Australia, the maker of this prize-winning selvage quilt!
The quilt is titled: Selvages Squared. The Highly Commended ribbon was from the recent Victorian Quilters' Showcase in Melbourne. I love the bits of orange that sparkle in this quilt. And the circular quilting is fabulous!
Wonderful job, Anne!

New Lamps Quilt on the Design Wall
When our sons were little I did a lot of driving between home and school. Sometimes it didn't make sense to drive home and then turn around and go right back to school. One of the places I liked to browse was The Lamp Store in the Green Hills section of Nashville. I was always amazed at the huge variety of lamps. I guess they really stuck in my mind because it was so easy to come up with all these lamp ideas! Each block is 10" square. I plan to add sashing and a piano key border. I'll show you some close-ups soon.

Selvage Design Fabric from Timeless Treasures!
Here's a fabric that looks like the selvage arrangements that we make! Look at all those nice little color windows: sailboats, space-invaders, push pins and there are more too. Thanks to JoAnne in Diamond Bar, California for sending me this link.
Here's where you can buy it: Nancy's Notions.

Stunning Vintage String Quilt
Quilt from the collection of Eleanor Bingham Miller, made around 1890 probably in Pennsylvania, exhibited at the Speed Museum in Louisville, Kentucky. I really like this quilt. The only thing that bugs me is the harsh dark red stripe in the middle.

Progress on the Pine Burr Quilt
All the pine burr blocks are finished! Next comes the sashing and assembly. Maybe the sashing should be gathered so it's more 3-D, compatible with the thick blocks. The sashing will make the circles look rounder because it will hide the slightly wonky outer edge of the blocks.
I had a relaxing weekend: sewing, listening to music and podcasts, reading, having tea outside enjoying the birds, baking, and going out for dinner with my DS. I hope you did too.

Pine Burr Update
Here's my progress so far. I will add sashing (maybe black and white). It will have 9 blocks total. And batting, even though this already weighs a ton. I don't want there to be any question about whether this is really a quilt in case I ever want to enter it in a quilt show. I'm considering the fabric on the right for the border. I know it's a little gaudy, but that's what makes it suitable for this quilt. Haha. The block in the lower right corner has some pine burrs made from striped fabric, in case you were wondering about the little navy blue and white lines. My favorite block (so far) is the one in the center. I hope to spend some time on this today too. My husband is hiking in the White Mountains this weekend. Good sewing time. :)

Pine Burr Quilt
This is my current project: a Pine Burr quilt. This is my first block. It's getting easier as I go. It takes a lot of fabric, that's for sure! I'm on block #5 now. Stay tuned.
P.S. Thanks for all the recent Pins!
