Exquisite Selvage Creations from France!

These exquisite selvage items were exhibited recently in Toulouse, France. I wish I could have been there in person, but Maite was kind enough to send us these photos.

Maite (Katell and Christine's friend, see recent posts) made the doll's outfit shown below. It includes a dress, bloomers, and booties. The coat-hanger is covered with selvages too. What a fine job she did!

Thank you, Maite! And Christine and Katell too!
Hugs to you from your quilting buddies out in cyberspace. I'm glad that we can be neighbors here.
Katell's blog is Quilteuse Forever.

Selvage Baby Dress and Shoes!

A beautiful little baby dress (Size 6 Months) with matching shoes, both decorated with selvages! This was made by Maïté l’Abeille in France. Check out Katell's blog: Quilteuse Forever
This will be part of an exhibit of "suitcase mini-quilts" at France-Patchwork.

This beautiful outfit even has its own hanging bag. How sweet!

Meet Shannon of Kramp Kouture

Shannon Kramp of Buffalo, NY has this selvage dress for sale at KrampKouture on Etsy. Shannon refashions used and vintage clothing. She offers the edginess of couture without the big pricetag.
If I was going to wear this dress I'd have to learn not to walk too close to doorknobs and drawer pulls! I'd need handlers to walk with me like Mickey Mouse has. Haha. Shannon is definitely thinking out of the box!

BREAKING NEWS! Julia Taylor's Selvage Frock!

When Julia Taylor of Utah saw Jodie Carleton's selvage frock she fell in love with it, like we all did. But Julia wrote to Jodie asking if she could make one for herself. Of course Jodie said yes; she even gave Julia some advice about how to make it. So here is the finished dress. Julia says it's her favorite. Oh yes!

Take a look at Julia's blog: Jules' Jewels to see more great photos and read her interesting story. And to say "Great job!" I signed up to Follow. I want to see what she does next!!

Selvages in "Down Under Quilts" Magazine

Have you seen the new issue of Down Under Quilts from Australia? They're featuring selvages! Erica Spinks' authored the articles, and her beautiful selvage quilt is on the front cover. She used a solid beige fabric with her selvages, and she added hand quilting with black thread to echo the selvages. Terrific idea. This is the first selvage quilt to appear on the cover of a magazine!

Above, do you recognize my Tree of Life selvage quilt and Jodie Carleton's selvage frock? They also show Jodie's selvage chair on another page. Below see the selvage shopping sack by Linda Robertus.

Below, see my "Twilight Star" selvage quilt (left) and Linda Robertus' "Salvaged Selvedges" (right).
