Knifty-Knitter Flower Loom

When I saw this "Knifty-Knitter Flower Loom" it brought back memories of craft projects that I loved as a kid like weaving pot holders and making a long tube with yarn on a wooden spool that had little nails around the top.
I found this photo on Heather Bailey's blog: http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/. I bet you could find something like this at JoAnn or Michaels. Wouldn't this make a great stocking-stuffer (with some colorful yarn, of course)!
Remember when we used to call fabric "material?" Why did we do that?

Heather Bailey's Felt for Embellishments and Ornaments

This is the felt she uses for her leaves, flowers and pincushions. Aren't they stunning? I'm thinking ornaments! For Christmas and for year-round decoration in the quilt studio!

Heather Bailey Does it Again

http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/.
But here's the best part: she says it's "easy-peasy" to create the shirts. Use fusible applique to apply a flower motif from the fabric to a store-bought tee-shirt. After fusing, she machine sewed around the edges using a ball-point needle so it wouldn't poke holes. Is that cool or what?

Happy first day of spring! It's 8:30am in New York and it's snowing hard! Big fluffy flakes. I hope it doesn't last long. Today we (Empire Quilters) will set up our quilt show at the Fashion Institute in Manhattan. The show title is Urban Inspirations. Please come and say hi if you are in the area on Saturday or Sunday. I'll be wearing my selvage vest so you can find me. The Red Zinger and Fan Quilt (shown in the sidebar) will be on exhibit at the show. My mini quilt cabinets and colorful pin-cushions will be for sale in the Boutique. I'll let you know how it goes. For more details visit: http://www.empirequilters.net/. Click on "2009 Show" in the sidebar.

Meet Fabric Designer Heather Bailey!

Movie Alert: Heather mentioned on her blog recently that there is a scene in the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" where Cate Blanchette dances on a terrace wearing a stunning red dress. She says it's a breathtaking moment. I plan to see it just for that scene.
