Belinda's Selvage Purse

Belinda of Sydney, Australia created this selvage coin purse and she's offering it for sale for $20 in her Etsy store called Seventh Sphere. There you'll see many more handbags in her fresh, modern fabrics and beautiful workmanship. It's definitely worth a visit.

Check out the selvage with the Chinese writing (above). The Heather Bailey selvage looks distinctive too, like everything else Heather does. I like the zig-zag stitch done with variegated thread too. Nice job, Belinda!

Knifty-Knitter Flower Loom

When I saw this "Knifty-Knitter Flower Loom" it brought back memories of craft projects that I loved as a kid like weaving pot holders and making a long tube with yarn on a wooden spool that had little nails around the top.

I found this photo on Heather Bailey's blog: http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/. I bet you could find something like this at JoAnn or Michaels. Wouldn't this make a great stocking-stuffer (with some colorful yarn, of course)!

Remember when we used to call fabric "material?" Why did we do that?

Heather Bailey's Felt for Embellishments and Ornaments

Designer Heather Bailey is always up to something deliciously colorful! Her latest thing is felt. She stocks high quality wool blend (and bamboo) felt in good colors in her online store: http://www.heatherbaileystore.com/category-s/55.htm&Click=25
This is the felt she uses for her leaves, flowers and pincushions. Aren't they stunning? I'm thinking ornaments! For Christmas and for year-round decoration in the quilt studio!

Heather Bailey Does it Again

Heather Bailey is so creative, she just blows my socks off. She made several outfits for two daughters of a friend, using fabric that she designed called Rose Bouquet, a print from Pop Garden. She also made hats to go with the outfits! You can see all this on her blog at:
http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/.

But here's the best part: she says it's "easy-peasy" to create the shirts. Use fusible applique to apply a flower motif from the fabric to a store-bought tee-shirt. After fusing, she machine sewed around the edges using a ball-point needle so it wouldn't poke holes. Is that cool or what?

A Very Creative Life

Heather Bailey's daughter Charlotte asked for a hair-do that no one has ever seen before! This is what she got. I really love it.

Happy first day of spring! It's 8:30am in New York and it's snowing hard! Big fluffy flakes. I hope it doesn't last long. Today we (Empire Quilters) will set up our quilt show at the Fashion Institute in Manhattan. The show title is Urban Inspirations. Please come and say hi if you are in the area on Saturday or Sunday. I'll be wearing my selvage vest so you can find me. The Red Zinger and Fan Quilt (shown in the sidebar) will be on exhibit at the show. My mini quilt cabinets and colorful pin-cushions will be for sale in the Boutique. I'll let you know how it goes. For more details visit: http://www.empirequilters.net/. Golden Delicious Pin Cushion by Heather Bailey

This is one of Heather Bailey's "Fresh Picked Pin Cushions." Isn't it beautiful? I love her color sense and her creativity! She imagines this as a parade of green apples carrying their champion on thier shoulders.

Meet Fabric Designer Heather Bailey!

Here's a powerful dose of color-therapy for January! Isn't this a gorgeous quilt? I love the ruffle around the edge. It's so feminine and luxurious. This photo came from Heather Bailey's fabulous blog: http://www.heatherbailey.typepad.com/. She's a talented designer of fabrics, paper craft items and clothing. Also visit her store at http://www.heatherbaileystore.com/.

Movie Alert: Heather mentioned on her blog recently that there is a scene in the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" where Cate Blanchette dances on a terrace wearing a stunning red dress. She says it's a breathtaking moment. I plan to see it just for that scene.
