It's My Birthday! Have a Cupcake!

The good thing about eating a "virtual" cupcake is that there are no calories.

Sea Glass Quilt Top is Finished

 

This is a close-up shot of part of the Sea Glass quilt. I'll show you the finished quilt soon.

There are about 9 different solid color fabrics in this quilt. All the shapes and the arrangements are improvisational, so this is a very carefree project. 

Orange as a Carrot?

Today I saw multi-colored carrots for the first time! Nice color combination too. 

We quilters will be playing with our food, no doubt.

How do you feel about orange?

Is it the new pink? Are you embracing the resurgence of orange, or are you not going there?

When I was in 8th grade I painted my room orange. I'm not back to that point, but I like orange.

Solar Quilt is Finished!

The Solar Quilt is finished and has been shipped to a collector in San Francisco. These photos were taken just before the top was quilted. The fabrics include solids, hand-dyes, batiks and abstract prints. The quilt measures 65" square. It will be hung on a wall. Now my dh wants one just like it. Haha.

Interesting Selvage Block

This selvage block was made by Amy Friend of During Quiet Time. It looks like 16 small blocks put together with additional long selvages. Nice job, Amy!

My Computer Had a Virus

Have you wondered where I've been? My computer has had a virus. I remember saying "Why would anyone need a personal computer?" Now I'm lost without it. I'm not fully back in business, but I'm getting there. If you've emailed me, please be patient.

Tomorrow I'll show you a quilt I've been working on. Something different.

Scrabble Quilt

This custom rag quilt was made by OSewManyRags for a wedding gift. All the words were chosen for the happy couple. The letters are hand painted. The back of the quilt is maroon, just like the game board.

Adirondack Quilt

This is my new camp quilt "Adirondack." It was beautifully machine quilted by Linda Aquavia of New Hartford, CT. The quilt measures 65" x 88," good for a tall person's bed quilt. I like the saw-tooth borders and the odd fabrics. Some are the latest prints and some are oldies. 

Take a close look in the photo below to see the quilting, a digital design called "Curly Arcs." The quilt top is so busy that the quilting doesn't show up very much.

Thinking About a Sea-Glass Quilt

I've recently been gathering fabrics for a sea-glass quilt. I love the colors. They are brighter than they look on my screen. I'm not sure about using the lime green and the dark green. Maybe just a little bit. And a little sandy tan will be good. And maybe some amber/root beer brown too. I have no idea what the design will be. I'm thinking rounded edges, not straight lines. Any ideas out there?

New Camp Quilt

Another camp style (rustic lodge) quilt is in the works. This photo is just a sneak preview. I'll pick it up from the machine quilter on Saturday and show it to you on Sunday. I can't wait to see it. This one is similar in personality to Golden Pond. I searched my stash for some unusual fabrics for this one! 

HST Scrap Quilt

Here's another quilt that I made years ago, during my HST* and 1" strip phase. 

I'm sure that phase has passed because making that many HSTs doesn't tempt me now.

But I do like the little red frames around the coin border. Not so sure about the yoyos in the corners. 

*HST = half square triangles (for you new quilters out there)
