Great Quilt Show in Somers, New York!

On Saturday I went to the Northern Star Quilters' Guild show in Somers, NY. They had a wide variety  of beautiful quilts. The vendors had lots of new merchandise. Some of it came home with me, of course. Mark Lipinski was in fine form and delighted a big audience with funny stories and great quilts.

All three quilts in this post were made by Barbara E. Glab of Vero Beach, Florida. "Home Sweet Home" was quilted by Leona Herschberger.

"Blue Heaven" is another traditional beauty by Barbara and quilted by Leona.

"Luxury Plus" was quilted by Mary Raber.

I'll show you more quilts from the show tomorrow.

Selvage Table Runner

Pretty selvage table runner by Melinda of Melinda Quilts Etc
I especially like that white polka dot in the middle. A runner is a good first selvage project, but new selvage quilters probably won't be able to stop there. Right?

Not Red Zingers

Here's a Purple version of the Red Zinger! Made by Dar.

Below, see Jill's Black & White Zinger.

Next is Julie's Denim Zinger. She made it for her son, as I recall.

The Green Zinger below was made by Julia Wood of Alabama. Her blog is Green Quilts. She's also the author of "Quick and Easy Hexie Quilts."

Next is Jen Duncan's beautiful Blue Zinger.

Next is Margaret Zenk's Gold Zinger. Margaret is a talented quilter on Long Island, NY.

The Brown Zinger below was made by Cynthia Fuelling of Fuelling Designs.

Nice job, quilters!

Sea Glass Quilt is Finished!

And it's on the way to a quilt collector in San Francisco. This peaceful quilt in beautiful soothing colors is good for daydreaming. It makes me want to go to the Caribbean. If this quilt was for me, I would have included some prints, maybe batiks. Interesting surprises to find on the beach. But I like this "clean" version too.

It's My Birthday! Have a Cupcake!

The good thing about eating a "virtual" cupcake is that there are no calories.
So let's have two!

Also, let's have a little quilt show. These are some images I found on the Internet.
The first one is by Brigitte Giblen Quilts.

Below: "Colorful Crooked Path" by NonnaZac on Etsy.

Below: "Rooster on White Quilt Top" offered by Minnie and Garland Adkins on LiveAuctioneers. Made in 1991.

Below: "Ignored Quilt" from the Delightfully Tacky site. I came up with that name because the blog author wrote extensively about how she decorated this room and never once mentioned the quilt! I think it's the centerpiece of the whole room.

Below: "A Symbol Recomposed" by Lorena and three of her friends in Sydney, Australia. Wow!

I hope you enjoyed my little virtual birthday party! :)

Sea Glass Quilt Top is Finished

This is a close-up shot of part of the Sea Glass quilt. I'll show you the finished quilt soon.
There are about 9 different solid color fabrics in this quilt. All the shapes and the arrangements are improvisational, so this is a very carefree project.

Orange as a Carrot?

Today I saw multi-colored carrots for the first time! Nice color combination too.
We quilters will be playing with our food, no doubt.

How do you feel about orange?

Is it the new pink? Are you embracing the resurgence of orange, or are you not going there?
When I was in 8th grade I painted my room orange. I'm not back to that point, but I like orange.
How about you?

Solar Quilt is Finished!

The Solar Quilt is finished and has been shipped to a collector in San Francisco. These photos were taken just before the top was quilted. The fabrics include solids, hand-dyes, batiks and abstract prints. The quilt measures 65" square. It will be hung on a wall. Now my dh wants one just like it. Haha.

Interesting Selvage Block

This selvage block was made by Amy Friend of During Quiet Time. It looks like 16 small blocks put together with additional long selvages. Nice job, Amy!
