Join the Team: "Quilters Step It Up"

Join the team "Quilters Step It Up" and simply increase the number of steps you take each day for 2 weeks starting on Oct. 13. I started this team.

You might want to use a fitness tracker or you might not; it doesn't matter. See FAQs.

I recently got a Fitbit Alta which counts my steps each day. It helps me stay motivated. (eBay was cheapest.) You might prefer to keep a log of minutes spent walking. This will be fun.
Stay tuned.

Good idea -- quilters spend a LOT Of time sitting at the machine (or hand quilting in some cases)-- definitely not walking. I've found posture is worth thinking about too and that partly depends on your sewing table and chair, not easy to get the best alignment. Maybe it's too back, or a good thing that you think of this in the fall -- in the summer I walk a lot of a favorite beach but walking yesterday I realized it will be more and more rare as the weather changes. Thanks for the reminder about something very important to our health.

What a great idea. No one needs more movement than we often sedentary quilters. I'm in! I don't have a Fitbit device so I will record with pencil and paper. Thanks for the inspiration!

I have had my fitbit for 20 months and it does help keep you informed of how much or how little you have done each day. After spending June, July, and August working on my piece for the Akron Art Prize and the fundraiser quilt, my walking decrease horribly. In September it was still so hot - almost 90 every day and I can't take the heat at all. I have been working to get back on track walking every day since the weather has finally cooled down.

Cool!! I’ve been walking more, but this is a great incentive to not slack off. See you on the other side! :-)

I joined the group. I'm so excited to be joining up with other quilters. It'll be fun to see how this all plays out.
