New Feature: Adjustable Elastic Ear Loops

Adding this little stopper-bead to the elastic ear loops is such a great idea. Now my masks can fit every size. The elastic is 1/4" wide and the bead is tiny, so it was tricky threading it through that little hole. The best solution was using a little metal crochet hook. It sounds so simple, but I tried everything before figuring this out! :)
So if you're making masks, maybe give this a try.

Where did you find the stopper beads? No knot to keep them from slipping off? Thanks!

Nice touch! I'm curious about the bead also. I ask because I stopped at Joann yesterday looking for the cord locks. They had them but only a pack of 24 for $35. Glad I didn't get them, because when I checked out, I got a coupon for 50% off, so went right back in and got a pack. At least my shorts will stay up when I put the phone in my pocket without tying a knot in the cord.

What a great idea! I wonder if there's a bead small enough for the 1/8" elastic I've been using.

I did find some "beads" on Amazon - called cord locks or toggles, made of silicone. Prices are much more reasonable than small toggles with springs. The delivery dates vary widely however.

Well, the bead can slip off. But it's easy to get it back on. Here are 2 ways to do it.

1. Use a small crochet hook (1.25 mm.) to reach through the bead and pull the elastic back through the hole in the bead.

2. Use a length of dental floss. Thread it through the bead, then through the ear loop, and back through the bead. Then pull the dental floss and the elastic will travel right back through.

It would be better to have a little bead on the elastic so that the stopper bead can't be pulled off, but I tried everything and couldn't get a good solution. But if you can get the little bead back on easily enough I think it's okay.
