The Empire Quilter's Block of the Month for February is this fan block. Take a look here to see an easy method for make them: www.empirebom.blogspot.com.
The only difference between these and the "popular string quilt blocks" is that the seam allowances gradually increase or decrease. So you don't have to cut wedges; you cut long rectangles. A picture is worth a thousand words, so take a look.

Love it. Thanks so much for the link.
Isn't this the same block that you made for the quilt in the most recent (I think) Quiltmaker magazine? I love it!
This is such a sweet and fun block.
Happy Weekend
That is beautiful! I just love all of the pink and red stuff this time of year. (Karen, I still can't get an email through to you using your profile email address. I was trying to email you a project).
Jackie,
Yes this is the same thing, just smaller. Well, there is one difference. If you think of the fan as a sunrise, the sun is in the corner in this block. In the magazine, the sun is along one side. There are so many variations!
Infant Bibliofile,
