Butterflies at the Museum of Science in Boston

On a recent trip to the Museum of Science in Boston, my husband and I saw this exhibit of butterflies. What an amazing variety of colors and shapes!
The iridescent blue butterfly has faceted scales that refract light, unlike others wich have pigmented scales. The blue one was about 3 inches tall, although it looks smaller on that huge leaf. Posted by Picasa

Having grown up in Boston, the Science Museum is the greatest. Those pictures you took came out fantastic. Can you see these butterflies in applique on a quilt?! Lynne
