This stunning quilt is part of "The Lake," a series of 25 panels by Nellie of Tennessee and Michigan. She's working on a 9' x 7' installation with the beach in the foreground and the sky above. To see more of this work, click on "The Lake" in Nellie's sidebar at http://nelliedurand.blogspot.com.

Do you see Elvis on the far right-hand edge? And I see a selvage, front and center! Nellie uses scraps from her projects (and her friend's scraps) to create these amazing quilts.

Unbelieveable! What a gorgeous piece.
I feel like I'm sitting on the beach. Amazing.
What an amazing artist. Her blog show her beautiful work. Thanks
Thank you for featuring my lake series created from textile scraps and selvages. Laying each little piece or strip is like a painter laying down brush strokes. I could never achieve this effect without bags of lots of tiny pieces to choose from. I would never ever consider cutting what needs to work from yardage, or even fat quarters. All the scraps from my own projects and those of my friends makes this possible.
The pictured piece is just one of 25 panels for a 9'x 7' installation piece that I'm working on. It includes the beach in the foreground and a summer sky at the top. To see all the posts about this project, click on the label "The Lake" in my sidebar.
Um, WOW!
