Vintage Patchwork Dress 1950's

This vintage patchwork dress is offered for sale on Etsy by Jantiques in Tennessee.  I'm not sure but I think it's awful; I just can't look away. Haha. See how the patchwork design is symmetrical? It's funny how the white fabric with the pink and brown dots looks very 2011. I'm not going to make one of these. :)

My first thought was, "Who would wear such a thing?" But then I thought of some of the mother-daughter outfits my mom made and it all makes sense.

I agree that it is awful, but my Mom made us some diamond cut pieced sleeveless tops for summer that were great looking. We loved them. I think you are right about the kinds of fabric used, and the placement of the pieces.

What a perfect dress to wear to your next quilt show! I think it's very chic for its era.

I think I might like it. At least you wuold not be like everyone else. In the lat 70's I made a jacket just about like this. Oh but it had Red and Gold Satin pockets.

I do remember when my aunt, who quilted a lot, made the children a jacket from flannel cut aways from the factory. Looked a lot like the dress. Joan in coastal MS

I don't think that *I* would be caught dead in this dress but I do agree with the other commenters that wearing this to a guild meeting or show would be a riot.
