Let's assume you have enough fabric to get through a blizzard. Heh, heh.

Not so fast. How about enough low volumes for backgrounds? Backings? Thread?

Keep a hand-sewing project ready too, in case the power goes out.

Sock Quilts!

This clever quilt "Odd Socks" was made by Juliet (originally from Scotland, living in New Zealand). Her blog is the Tartan Kiwi. You can see her patterns here. My favorite sock is the blue one in the upper right corner. I like those polka dots. Nice low volume background too.

Now I'm thinking about sock quilts, so here are some more.

The sock quilt (above) is the creation of Harriet Dennant. Lots of buttons and nice hand embroidery on this quilt.

The "Lost Socks" quilt was made by Teri Christopherson at Black Mountain Needleworks. She made a pattern for this quilt. 

This quilt "Looking for a Mate in Galesburg" was made from donated socks sewn onto felt. This was a public art project. You can read more about it on Susan Lenz's blog Art In Stitches.

Baby socks quilt made by heatherstrunk on Etsy. She makes them using the customer's baby socks.

Glow in the Dark Cupcakes!

Hold the phone! Glow in the dark cupcakes from Recipe Snobs are made using tonic water and jello. She explains just how to do it here. And it doesn't look that hard! Oh my gosh, this is so cool! I wish I'd known this when my sons were little. But I'm saving it for possible grandkids!

New City Lights Quilt Pattern!

Here's my newest quilt pattern, hot of the presses! City Lights is a soft raw-edge applique quilt that's great for beginners who want modern style. Directions for wall size and twin size are included. 

After the first time you machine wash and dry it, you'll have to pick off lots of threads. But not so much after that. See the pattern.

Your Own Personal Handwriting Font

I know there are countless fonts out there. But did you know you can even make a font out of your own handwriting? A fellow from Nepal who says he's a perfectionist will do it for $5 on fiverr.

Kaffe With Giant Quilt

I found this photo of Kaffe Fassett in front of a giant quilt on Pinterest. There was no description or link. Does anyone know the story here? Pretty amazing.

The picture of Kafe was taken in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands during a quiltexposition in “Het Fries Museum” in 21-03-2008. He is standing in front of the leaning tower “the Oldehove”

Clever Binding Tip!

Here's a tip from Rita at Red Pepper Quilts showing how to finish attaching quilt binding. I think this is much better than the way I've been doing it. Maybe you'll like it too. She leaves a long tail of binding at the beginning and the end. Then she attaches them as shown in her photo above. See her tutorial here. Pretty smart, Rita!

Awesome Selvage Star Quilt!

Made by Tanya Perretta and posted on facebook by Handi Quilter. She used 1" wide selvages and Warm & Natural batting. I love how the selvages look with the black fabric. She said there's no pattern for it; she just make it up. Nice job, Tanya!

Another quilt from the same show featured on Lisa's blog is "Jacob's Coat" by Marcia DeCamp from Palmyra, New York. I love how she made it in 4 big squares.

Embellished Denim Jeans!

Neuw jeans painted by Dan Vient and featured on Black Log from New Zealand. This was part of a fundraiser to benefit Mental Health New Zealand in 2013.

I Pinned this a while back and just got an email today from Pinterest telling me that it has been viewed over 10,500 times.

Sean Scully Print

This is a print by Irish-American painter Sean Scully posted on Artspace.

 He usually does large paintings, but this piece measures 11" x 11." 

When I look at this, I feel a new quilt coming on!

Candy Quilt

I made this candy quilt a few years ago. There is a beautiful little candy store in Carmel, CA that was the inspiration for the quilt. The photo below reminded me of the store and the quilt, so I took some photos of the quilt to show you.
