Brookside Quiltworks Exhibits my Quilts!

Brookside Quiltworks in South Egremont, Massachusetts is exhibiting 25 of my quilts until the end of August. There are downloadable patterns available for many of the quilts. Many quilts are available for sale too. This quilt shop offers 2,800 bolts of gorgeous fabric, plus tools, books, patterns, longarm quilting services, and lessons...That must be why they call it "Quiltworks," they have the works!

L to R: Fandango, Blue Lagoon, and a Gee's Bend-style Retro Christmas quilt.

Winding Trails (center), and my sister Eileen Lovett's green Hummingbird quilt (draped on the table) which was the featured quilt for March in Curated Quilts' 2019 Calendar.

This Bourgoing Surrounded quilt made from silk dupioni, includes buttons, beads and hand embroidery.

Little Dolls quilt and Puzzle quilt. Owners Catherine and Bill Kane do a nice job arranging the exhibit. Their whole shop is a delight to visit.

Nice Fabric Recipe!

I love the fabric "recipe" that this quilter used. Rather than thinking just "dark vs. light," she was also thinking "warm vs. cool." And look at that quilting in the border. Wow! I also like the liberated way the border on the left side runs off the edge of the quilt, but the little sawtooth border is perfectly planned. I wish I could see the whole quilt!

This quilt photo is from Terri Watson's Threadtales blog. It is likely a customer quilt. Terri is a very talented long arm quilter.

Wedding Quilt Update #2

As you know, I'm making a wedding quilt for a customer who will give it to her sister at a shower this month.  She wants a "Stacks" quilt with bright, fresh colors and interesting fabrics. Here it is on the design wall. The skinny red ribbon on the right is there just to help me know where the edge of the quilt will be. I love arranging all these colors and patterns. The white areas will be filled in with light prints.

I love September. The windows in my quilt room are open and the temperature is perfect.
I hope all is well with you.

Upcycling from the quilt room floor

I'm working on a scrap quilt that is producing lots of tiny scraps. (Notice the irony here? I didn't, at first.) They looked so pretty on the floor, I decided to arrange them on a white 10" square with a dab of glue behind each scrap. Then starting from the outer edge, I sewed  a  big spiral all the way to the middle. I was going to make a wreath, but why leave the middle empty when there are so many nice fabrics?
I don't know if this will ever be a quilt but it looks great on the design wall in the meantime.

GIVEAWAY: 15 Minutes Play! Join the Blog Hop

"Makin' Me Crazy" (above) by Victoria Findlay Wolfe.

Do you love improvisational quilts? Liberated quilts? Maverick quilts? String quilts?
Whatever you call them, aren't they the best? They're my favorites!
Now there's a book full of inspiration for improvisational quilt lovers!

The very best book on improv quilts is: 15 Minutes of Play by my friend Victoria Findlay Wolfe.
If you want to be inspired, you owe it to yourself to get a copy of her book.

Scraps never looked so good! This is improvisational piecing reinvented - learn how to create your own creatively-collaged swatches of fabric in just 15 minutes a day. As you play, you'll sharpen your design skills and learn more about combining colors and prints in new ways. Discover just how distinctive classic blocks like Sawtooth Star or Flying Geese can be, when they're constructed with more spunk and spontaneity!

You can win one right here by leaving a comment on this post. (US winners receive a hard copy of the book. International winners receive a Electronic copy of the book, direct from C&T.)

Winner announced on Dec. 12!

QUESTIONS: Does Victoria sew with her shoes on? Does she listen to music or does she prefer quiet? I've posed these questions to Victoria and her answers will appear among the comments today.
Tell us your answers too. (Winner will be picked at random.)

For more chances to win, visit the blog hop locations every day and enter there too!

I made this red and white version (below) a few years ago and I love it. There are 4 of my quilts in Victoria's book (this red and white quilt is not in the book). I'm so thrilled to be part of this project.
This book is going to be a classic.
