Fandango Quilt Imitates Selvage Quilts!
I just finished this fan quilt and noticed that it looks a lot like a selvage quilt. First I cut a ton of one-inch strips from my 1940-1970's era stash. Then (without using a foundation) I sewed the strips together starting with a 1/4 inch seam allowance, then gradually increasing to a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Doing this with each added strip produces the fan effect. After piecing, press flat then using a square template, trim. The border is made of small fans. I love this busy quilt.

Selvage Quilt Inspiration at the Home Depot!
Even at the Home Depot you can find selvage quilt ideas. These tiles look like a selvage quilt to me. With a box of markers and a little time, I could fix up this display:)
My selvages usually run the whole width of a block, but it might be interesting to butt two or three selvages together like these tiles.

Recycled Denim Waistbands

These creations by Deco-Blue Designs http://deco-blue.co.uk/ are made from recycled denim waistbands. This reminds me of the selvage look: random and improvisational. The pillow measures 24" x 24," and the bag is 10" x 12." This is their best selling bag. I like them.Thursday, September 11, 2008
This Painting has a Selvage Look
When I saw this painting from a distance, I thought, "Wow! A selvage arrangement!" Do you see the similarity? I wonder if the artist who painted this would agree.
I saw this painting in an office somewhere and I can't remember where it was! It isn't signed. If you can tell me who to give credit to for this, please do.
