Unique Star Quilt

I've never seen a star quilt done like this before, and I've seen a lot of star quilts!

 I found it on Barb Vedder's Pinterest board. 

The source was Bloglovin' but there's no info about who made it.

Big Star Quilt and Pincushion Winner!

I made this string quilt using a big diamond ruler. The larger triangles were made with the help of some paper "patterns." Machine quilted by Linda Aquavia of New Hartford, CT.

 

I couldn't resist including some cherries and a sock monkey. See the black and white print above? I put it next to the darkest darks to get some high contrast at the star points to make the star pop.

Red and White Quilt by Shoko Sakai

This quilt is called "Composition II" by Shoko Sakai of Japan. This beautiful quilt has been exhibited in France and in Japan. To see more photos, visit Redwork in Germany. Wow!

Amy Smart's Star Quilt

Have you seen Amy Smart's blog: Diary of a Quilter? She used Jeni's Giant Star Tutorial to make this gift for her sister. Amy added the scrappy border which isn't included in the tutorial.

Amy used Kaufman's Quilter's Linen (not really linen, but it has subtle lines that give the look of linen) for the straw-colored background. I really like that. Great job, Amy!!

Here's another cool idea from Amy: she's been saving pretty vintage plates to hang on a wall near her kitchen. Like designing a quilt! I love that plate with the green outer border. I hope she shows us the wall when they're hung.
