Another Selvage Skirt!

Kimbuktu of New York just made this selvage skirt for her little granddaughter. Isn't it pretty? The belt was made with Moda bias tape. Wouldn't it be nice to see these selvage skirts modeled by their owners?

Linda Baxter Lasco's Selvage Skirt

This pretty skirt was made by Linda Baxter Lasco of Paducah, KY. If her name sounds familiar, that's because she is a senior editor at AQS and has authored three of the "New Quilts from an Old Favorite" series: the Sawtooth, Burgoyne Surrounded and Rose of Sharon books. She also helped me with my AQS book "Quilts from the Selvage Edge."

So, back to the skirt. Linda was inspired by Paulette Carr's selvage skirt which was featured here last September. She made it for Faith, the daughter of Sylvia who is also part of the team at AQS. Didn't she do a great job? I love the bright colors and the fancy belt. She even changed her thread to match each of the buttons. Faith is one lucky girl. Nice job, Linda!

Iva McAdams Makes Her First Selvage Skirt

Iva McAdams of Kansas made her first selvage skirt - with a belt too! Here are her words:

"I finally did a selvage project. Paulette Carr's adorable little skirt was my inspiration and I just had to make one for my granddaughter. However, since gathering is not one of my favorite things to do, I opted for more of an a-line skirt. But the next one I make (yes, there will be another one) will definitely be gathered; it's a much cuter look."

Paulette's Selvage Skirt-WOW!

Isn't this an amazing selvage skirt? I love it! This was made by Paulette Carr from Upper Michigan. Here's her story:

"I've been creating art in many mediums since I was a child. My passion at the time is cloth dolls and collage. But when I saw your book and looked at your blog I had to create something. I have six granddaughters and I love to alter denim for them. Here is a picture of my Selvage edge denim skirt. Question is, which girl gets the skirt! Thanks for the inspiration.....hope you like it......and I now have a purse in progress! Have a great day."
