AQS Quilt Art 2011 Engagement Calendar Giveaway!

Are you in the market for a new calendar? This one is spiral bound so it lays flat on your desk. There is a page for each week, and beautiful quilt photos to inspire you all year long.

Leave a comment to enter the random drawing. Tell us the first thing you're going to sew in the new year. I'll go first. I'm going to make a string quilt in the spirit of Bumblebean's blog about 15 Minutes Play. I can't wait to get started!

I'm going to make a Wonky Canasta Quilt from Elizabeth Hartman's pattern. I've been collecting the fabric for about 10 months now, and finally have all the pieces I need. I am so excited to make this quilt!
Thanks for the giveaway!

I am going to make this: http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/09/meandering-path-quilt.html#more From the moda bake shop, using Sugar Pop for the fabric. I'm making it for my friend, Karol, who has babysat for me for many, many years, and never once accepted payment for it. (And I'm talking full time babysitting while I worked!) I'm not that great at sewing, I'm still rather new at this, but I'm excited about this quilt. Most of my projects in the past have been simply sewing charm packs together. (This is essentially the same thing, I guess, just with rectangles! LoL) Did I mention that I'm excited? LoL jody.edwards@yahoo.com

In 2011 I will start with finishing my Civil War Diary Quilt. The top was done in 2009. I had a retreat from the quilt in 2010, so it is finishing time in 2011.
Have a great new years eve and a very healthy, happy and creative 2011.

Hi, I am going to be playing around mixing foil with fabric. Not sure what the final outcome will be. I really need to step up to a brown bag challenge that I have had the fabric for months...deadline isn't until March, so I've put it on the back burner.

kimbuktu said...

Not counting the several projects I have going right now, the first thing I plan to sew is a set of placemats. An online friend sent me two rolls of selvages, and I am going to make the placemats with one of them.

I am working on the current Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt called Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll. The 7th of 8 clues will be coming out on New Year's Eve, so I'll be working on that step and finishing up any previous steps I haven't finished. I got way behind getting ready for Christmas. If I get caught up with that, I have a funky Christmas tree quilt I want to start for next Christmas!

sissa said...

I love these calendars - I buy one for myself every year! Not only do they help me to stay organized (I need all the help I can get) but the pictures of the quilts are a great inspiration for future projects!

My first project will be an eye spy game for my grandson. I've been collecting little trinkets to put in the flannel square...just need to find my clear vinyl for the window....:P

The absolutely very first thing I'm going to do is finish knitting a scarf for my daughter (she is asking for it!!), and then I can concentrate on starting a new quilt for me--a 30 Stars for 30 Years quilt. Our 30th anniv was in August, and the pattern was purchased this summer, fabric purchased on sale in late fall.... So I'd love to see this quilt hanging on the wall first thing in the new year. Thanks for the giveaway!

Sue said...

The first new one I'll start is a BOM I'm doing with my fave SIL. And I'll continue to work on finishing the hand quilting on my Grandmother's Flower Garden and also the Piece 'O Cake applique blocks (8 blocks finished, 8 more to go plus the border).

I'm going to finish a quilt top that I started quite a few months ago. It's a nine patch and it's turning out really very nice. Had to put it aside because of the Christmas sewing. Really don't like to leave things undone, so it will be great to get it done!

I'm going to put together a quilt for my sister-in-law. She cut out the feather/fan pieces with her mother ago. She/they proceeded to to sew together 1 block. She then told her mother she wasn't going to finish...that way her mother would be with her forever, so they could finish it.

Well, her mother died several years ago. My 'sneaky' niece brought me the pieces last summer. Even though the fabric is not-so-nice to work with, I want to make it up for her. When completed, I'll machine embroider a patch for the back with both of their names, and mine. I know when I deliver the couch-sized quilt, there will be many tears!!

I am going to make and donate a quilt for our local foster care program. It will go to a teen aged boy who is too old to remain in foster care and is going out into the world and beginning a new life on his own. Making a gift that will be well received by a boy, especially a teen, is a New Year's challenge all on its own...but I'm taking it and will fill that quilt with all the love I can create!

I admire her dedication to Fiber).
