Biggest year yet for thread usage! 46 Spools!
This is the least scientific measure out there because the spools are different sizes and I don't start with new spools at the beginning of the year. But still. I usually use about 20 spools/year, so 2016 was a very good year for sewing.
Do you have a spool count for the year?

I only managed 5 spools and 3 pre-wound bobbins. It was my worst showing since I started saving empty spools.
Me too!!I sewed a lot of selvages together for projects I made! Back to the quilt shop to replenish.
Well Denise, this year you are bound to improve! I hope you have your best year ever in 2017.
Way to go, Lee Prairie Designs! Let's see what you made.
23 spools for me and some of them were big spools. I did a lot of quilting this year. I love saving my spools. Happy new year!
I use the big cones of auriful and go through at least one one through the year and a few of the medium size spool one for bobbins.
22 spools, some were the cones so a lot of thread was used in my sewing room.
26 Spools I used this year.
Some are used since last year. Saving the Spools is amazing, I do this now about a few years.

I never think to save them as I give them to my sister for her grammar school students to re-purpose. I'll keep a tally this year. Your pile is quite impressive!
I have a handled grocery bag into which I've been throwing empty spools for several years, it's nearly full. Since we see very good uses for selvages which might be thrown away with out the creativity seen on this blog, I wonder what I can do with those spools. I've asked around and can't seem to give them to nursery schools where kids could play with them, seems they want more "educational" toys.
You used a lot of thread last year! On my Post 2 for January 3rd, I posted the quilts I made and the thread I had used. I emptied 29 in 2016. I still have my empty spools from the last three or four years and I am wondering what I should do with them. Maybe I will have to make something artsy with them. LOL!!
19 for me. What was I thinking buying all that thread?
